Serie A is a ****ing strong league tbf. Most of their top teams would beat the top teams in the PL with ease.

But how many top teams do they have? AC and Inter Milan have been on the slide in recent seasons, as have Roma. I would consider only Juventus and Napoli to be their top teams, possibly Lazio as well. I wouldn't call Serie A a particularly strong league. The Bundesliga, La Liga and the PL are all stronger imo.

what? That jumper is very popular is italy <whistle>

The problem is that we have hardly anyone who is currently considered a backup who is Prem quality. So in reality if the right player comes along at the right price then we would be foolish not to consider buying them, regardless of the position, as it improves the overall quality of the squad. I don't think its worth buying players to be back up/cover if we do go in for players they have to be better than what we currently have and with the mindset that hopefully they will push the current starter into the role of backup.

're
Can't see Coutinho been true.

Astori deal definitely has some legs.

But we don't need anymore attacking threats for now.

We can score goals, we just can't keep many out of our net.

You quite so sure about that? Since tightening up at the back in around November, we're not scoring so many goals. We're quite llight of quality wingers and flair players.Strikers we're alright, but if our strategy is to play a tighter game rather than going gung-ho, we could use some more inspiration in the team.

Don't know what to make of Liverpool's 'interest' in Astori...would think Liverpool was more tempting than us (despite being a Saints fan). let's hope everything has moved too far to change minds now (though we lost Buttner late n the day). However, there was supposed to be interest in Gaston, but it never seemed to get far, Fingers crossed.

Not sure how motivated he would be by money too, as he turned down a big money offer from Spartak Moscow last summer apparently.

This is demonstrably not true. Compare European records in recent years, the Italian league is weaker than ever and getting weaker still.

Fully agree with that. It's no coincidence that players such as Ibrahimovic, Pastore, Thiago Silva and of course Ramirez have left the league.

Italy is a dieing league, nearly all the best players are jumping ship.

Coutinho I believe plays more in the middle, Morgan and Cork work well but are sometimes guilty of letting our attack stall by not releasing the ball quickly enough. We really need a player like Wiltshere who is always probing with passes and always pushing attacks forward, we would suffer defensively with Coutinho but going forward we would improve no end

Coutinho definitely played more as a winger when he was at Espanyol. And I think Schneiderlin or Davis could play the 'Wilshere' role you're talking while Cork holds and slows the play down. If we signed Astori and Coutinho we would have had an extremely successful window, put it that way.
