Two very reasonable posts there, Mussie. I think Leicester are our biggest threat for automatic promotion, with all their spending power, but you can't count on Palace and Boro slipping up either. Knowing if they do we'll probably do the same. Cardiff are a bit in front and will close it out i reckon. They know how to win and grind results out. They should be ok. We've yet to beat any of the top lot, so we need to address this to make it more comfortable. However, long way to go yet.
I'm sure I heard Boro have 15 players on the treatment table (or they did for the FA Cup game). Their season will depend on how they cope until those players return. I think the table will look something like: Cardiff Leicester Boro Hull Blackburn Leeds or Forest
Cant really predict until the transfer window has shut. I'm basing my prediction on the squads as they stand now. If we get a prem striker in on loan then I think we will finish top 2
1- Cardiff City 2- Middlesbrough --------------------- 3. Hull City (Wembley) 4. Leicester City (Wembley) 5. Watford 6. Derby We are too inconsistent (results-wise) to finish in the top 2, and Hull - Leicester play-off final was written by the Mayans centuries ago, they've got to get something right! We beat you at our place and we drew at yours, which means by laws of averages, you will win the play-off final
It would be an unbelievably tight play off final, like the game at our play it was like a chess game. But for a proper football fan it was really interesting to watch.
Humble Pie shop will re-open on 1st April! Hull Cardiff (final day decider!) ........................................ Boro Leics Blackburn Wolves
86 pts should be enough for auto. Cardiff already have 56 - so 30 needed from 20 games. They would have to have an incredibly poor run not to go up now. So thats's 1 place taken up. As regards the other it's really perm any one from the next 5 clubs. Too close to call in my mind.
Between us & Leicester I think. Leicester have already signed their striker, we need to get ours sorted
We've got a decent run in now; Sheff Wed, Posh, Derby, Millwall, Brighton, Charlton. We should be looking to win at least 4 of them. 15 points from them and I can see us keeping in track for autos. Champions and runners up spots will depend on how well Cardiff do. Win our own games and we dont need to worry about anyone beneath us. I would love us to be 2 points behind Cardiff on the last day of the season (and 4 in front of 3rd place of course!). It would make for a great game.
There is usually one club that make a later surge and for me that could be Blackburn (they are just starting to click) Press reports are now linking us with Alex Baptiste at Blackpool and Liam Trotter at Millwall .... if we were to sign both those players in the January transfer window plus keep Michael Keene on loan from Man United for the rest of the season then I could see us as very strong contenders. Cardiff - keeping Bellamy fit is key for me Boro - personally think they are too young to make it this season and are the most likely to fade Palace - keep their better players and they will be there or there abouts - they only club that has more than deserved their beating of us this season Hull - I predicted you would be up there at the start of the season - Steve Bruce has a very good track level at taking teams up and I believe you will definitely be in the shake-up
Being crowned champions in your own backyard? The stadium should be bouncing! I'd rather that then it being a non-game, one of us already promoted and one no hope but play-offs.
Sorry, I meant I hope its not a case of automatic promotion or not. If we're both already promoted and its a game for the league then great
I couldn't care less, as long as there's more than 3 points between us and the third place team! That would be one hell of a shindig!!! (Especially if Leeds go down!!!)
Leicester Cardiff Boro Palace Hull City Watford/Brighton/Derby/or anyone who strings a run, even Ipswich
Only 3 months ago when Polo started this thread and almost everyone was beguiled by Leicester City(including me!)
