Tricky one this. Yes we could have got him cheap last summer, but he wasn't that good and would have been a massive risk. But if we're looking at £2M this seems quite high but could be a good investment. Didn't Leicester pay the same amount for Wood? If so I'd have prefered a goal scorer for that amount, but the bigger picture I suppose is the formation, who else could we get for that money to play our system and knows the system, like I said a tricky one.

Isn't he a winger? We have Dyer Marshall and Knockheart. Adding another winger would just mean giving ones if these less of a chance. If Dyer hadn't shown some good form maybe we would have come in but it would be simply greed had we bid for him. We have quite a bit of options in midfield we just need a Midfield destroyer really that's about it.
I think we payed 1.25milliom up front for wood and then it could rise to almost 2mil with Add ons ( I think they are to do with promotion and goals scored)
There is no doubt that Wood was a fantastic signing and I would have loved him here. Brady is also a fantastic signing as ironically I think him, Meyler & Quinn have been our best three players in recent weeks.
Loans can be great for both clubs involved however it always seems to be the case that the club who didn't want him suddenly has the upper hand as soon as the club that has loaned a player out wants to make it permanent. So far wood has been fantastic and his play looks like it could really benefit us. I am a bit worried his gunna be flash in the pan just for this season and then he looks really average.
I understand Meyler then but why push the boat out for Brady now? That 2.5M could of got you a striker who could prove all the difference between now and May. You may still go out a get a striker but its a lot to pay for a player you already have avalible to you
Wolves had bid £2 million, we had to match that or he would go there and we would lose out all together
The Fail reported this morring is was Watford tabled the offer. The Mail understands Watford tabled a £2m bid for the 20-year-old on Friday, forcing City to match the Hornets' ambitious offer.
As has been mentioned, another club came in for Brady, so we had to buy him to keep him, that's the problem with loan players. O'Neil is now threatening to recall Elmohamady, just to force us into buying him, as he needs to generate funds for his own targets and doesn't want to wait for us to exercise our option in the summer. None of this will affect the addition of a striker, as this was the number one priority for this window, if we do end up buying Elmohamady, we'll probably insist on Campbell on loan as part of the deal.
Don't worry everyone, the money for the signing of Brady, Meyler and Elmohamady is coming out of my summer transfer budget anyway - and I was going to sign all of them then regardless of what league we end up in, plus at least one new striker. So actually it's not affecting us in the slightest.
