Look out for Ball No. 5

Edit: And yet again we are right next to the mighty Bournemouth who are No. 4 - maybe this time Capain ?

So, if we manage to beat Blackpool its away to the likely league champions or a team than seems to have become something of a bogey team for us.

    *mutters something, possibly obscene*

Well if we're ever going to win it, we'll have to play the big teams at some point. Would be nice to have long run though...

    We will never Surrender
We shall fight them at Bloomfield...and at Old Trafford or the Boleyn if need be,
We will shall never give up.

    :wink::smile:

But let's take care of Wigan first.

The Bloomfield Road pitch might have something to say about that -

Mind you the Cup has an uncanny co-incidence of throwing together teams who play each other immediately afterwards in the League and we are due to play Man Utd on 2nd February; with the odds in favour of each team winning one of the games. I'd settle for that.

Just being realistic mate. Couldn't beat 'em at home with a full strength side, what are the chances at BR?

It's the FA Cup, anything can happen! I'll get gloomy about it if we lose, until then don't deny me a bit of optimism. :)

Lets forget the cup once more and concentrate on the league.

Would suggest that Jol uses the game to try some forgotten players and maybe some new tricks.

Our performance against Blackpool was championship!!

I'm with Bidley - let's not write this one off until such time as we are actually out! Yes, the replay isn't by any means a walkover, but we've still got a good chance. Generally speaking, teams from higher divisions win more replays than they lose. Statistically, Blackpool's best chance was to hold onto their lead at the Cottage. We may not have played well, but that doesn't mean we won't play better in the replay. Also, home teams are less likely to keep 9 men behind the ball than away teams, so we might find a bit more space in and around their box.

As for the 4th Round - if we get there - as Bidley says, if we harbour hopes of a cup run we can't complain about playing one of the top sides at some point. We've beaten United (and pretty much all of the other top teams) at some point or other in the last few years. The odds are that we would lose to them, but we've always got a chance. As for West Ham, although we've had some bad results against them in the last few years, that would still be a winnable (as well as loseable) tie. It's too soon for the doom and gloom merchants to swing into action.

Captain you are very optimistic!! You need consistency and fighting spirit to do something in FA Cup. We lack both of them!!
I hope I am wrong but have seen the play far too many times, especially last year after thrashing Spurs to be kicked out at home against Bolton...
