This thread just confirms yet again that the majority of people on this forum know **** all about football and their opinion should never ever be heard in public. In fact, they should not even talk to themselves.
So we have fans who rate Martin and De Ridder highly and think Guly is crap. Just goes to show that most fans know **** all about football.
I wouldn't say I rate De Ridder highly but he's by no means the worst thing that's ever happened to this club like some fans think. He's not premier league level but he's not dreadful. With a better end product he could have been a decent player for us. I do think his time is up though.
IMHO SDR has not played enough to be properly rated, so I can't say if he's good or bad. I'm not a fan nor a hater, just trying to judge fairly on the info available. I agree that when he has come on the pitch he's not exactly set the game alight but who can say if that's his fault. Correct me if i'm wrong but in matches where he has come on the team have already been performing badly so failing to turn the game around can't entirely be his fault. I still reckon SDR's best hope of proving himself is getting loaned to another club and getting regular football. That seemed to work for Billy Sharp.
I'm fond of Steve because he is a saints player and he seems like a nice lad however there is no way he is up to PL standard. I would argue that he is not up to Championship level either based on what I've seen of him but would probably be useful as a squad player in the Championship. Maybe with a run of games he could do alright at that level. I appreciate that he always gives his all, even if that manifests itself as more of a headless chicken than a footballer of any quality. I can't fault his commitment or effort but the two yellows he's picked up in the last two matches he's featured show that unfortunately hard work isn't enough.
Where is all this lee stuff comming from? He's been injured almost the whole time he's been here how can people judge him? Thought he did well in his few appearances last year
Have any of you been spying over tadanari 's fence watching him play in his garden ? if not how you can judge him with the injuries and amount of game time he has had is a joke ! ..and while on the subject "steve de ridder worst player to pull on a saints shirt " WOW ........Really ? ....there have been players in a saints shirt that make de ridder look like messi over the years
I know I am not renowned for my knowledge of football, but logic tells me that we should be playing a right-winger on the right wing, not on the left, round pegs in square holes seems to be a tendancy rather than the exception. Why not go the whole hog and put Rickie in goal?
The most telling thing for me was in Yoshida's interview. He was talking about going out with his mate Tadanari and was asked if Lee was good enough for the PL. There was a long pause (and remember this is a friend he's thinking about) followed by some comments suggesting that Lee had problems with the physicality of the game.
