  1. Mansfield Town are not a struggling football club, for the level they are at they have money to spend and have one of the best stadiums! Sure they are ranked a lot lower but I can't recall them ever being higher than the third tier which isn't vastly financially different to the conference!

  5. You finally seeing the light? <doh>

Not saying they are Real Madrid or Barcelona, far from it, but its bollox to call them a struggling club! They are in a better much state than Portsmouth for example!

Mate, I supported the Swans for years in the old 4th division.
I can assure you the people running that club were praying for a payday, and fair ****s their players earned it....and then it was stolen from them.

  7. I live five minutes away from the One Call Stadium. I've seen their developments over the last couple of years including being locked out their own stadium over a rent dispute and struggling to pay the players. My mrs cousin played for them too. However, they have since got a new owner and chief exec (you may have seen them on the box today <whistle>), all those problems have been sorted and the player staff as been improved as as the stadium. They are about the rebuild the Abbott Road side stand and were (might still be but not sure) favourites for promotion! Don't try and tell me what state the stags are or aren't in!

Are you saying they can take or leave a £300-500k payday?

    #448
  9. Obviously wouldn't say no to the extra income but they have had a massive pay day today and they are not short of cash. However, nor does that mean 'they are struggling'. Good god, talk about basic ****ing English <doh>

Mansfield boss Paul Cox hailed Luis Suarez a 'fabulous talent' despite the penalty controversy in their 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.
In the Field Mill tie that saw Brendan Rodgers' men progress to the fourth round, Suarez

doubled the Reds lead in controversial style when he appeared to handle his initial shot.
Cox refused to criticise the Uruguay striker, saying: "I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was a reaction, he's a goalscorer and I think goalscorers put the ball in the net anyway.
"He's a great fabulous talent, I'd go pay to watch him week in and week out. He's a wonderful player."
Cox also insisted he does not feel Suarez cheated and further praised the Liverpool

    number seven.
"No I don't. For me to come out and say something like that I think would be quite cheap. If it had gone in the other end and one of our players had done it I think we'd have accepted it," he said.
"This is the FA Cup, this is the beauty of it, sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't.
"It's a beautiful game and for me he's a fabulous talent and for this country we're lucky to have him here. I don't think we should call him for doing something that I think 99 out of 100 players would do."
Cox also hailed the performance of his non-league Mansfield, he added: "I'm proud of my boys, I thought they were a different level second half. I thought we stood off them and let them play in the first half..
"We've done well against one of the best teams. We've a lot of positives to take out of it."

This is he best post I have ever read in so many different ways. Mainly how it says so much, so clearly, in such few words.

It sums up posters like Terrorwit up perfectly!

Never see them after we've done something good, like our recent run and the few hidings we've dished out over Xmas, or how brilliant Suarez has been playing lately for example, but as soon as they think there's any reason they can stick the boot in and criticise our club or those representing our club, they spring up here faster than Rooney's cock in an 0AP home.

Love a bit of faux outrage.

Everyone involved in the game and the pundits have all said it was clearly unintentional from Suarez, you can see he is actually moving his arm out of the way just half a second before he belts his hand. He did nothing wrong in the laws of the game as they stand, as its the official's job to spot these things. 99/100 players would of said nothing just like Suarez did when they realised they were going to be given the goal. We are all told from day one that you play to the whistle no matter what.

I have to say though that it would of been nice to see him tell the ref he handled it, and I'd of hoped he would have done - although, from what BR says he was told by the officials, the goal prob would of stood regardless - but its very rare the player ever does this (I can think of only 2 times this happened in my whole life and one f them was a LFC player and the ref didn't listen to him anyway!) so I suppose I'm not being very realistic with that hope.

Its important to point out that the BR said he spoke to the officials at the time as he couldn't see what happened and was told by them that it was handball but as they had judged it 'unintentional' play continue. If this is true it highlights even more that the match officials got it badly wrong and their the ones who people should be annoyed with really.

However, coz its public enemy number 1 all this goes out the window and its as if Suarez killed the baby Jesus. Everyone knows for a fact that if this involved a different player it wouldn't be this big a deal, and with him not diving anymore this was too good a kicking Suarez opportunity to pass up!

Mansfield are more than financially secure for the level they are currently at. The vast majority, if not all clubs at their level are less financially secure than them, s I don't think missing out on a reply is going to have any meaningful or detrimental effect on that club.

Agree with you there. Anyone else and it would not be spoken about. But because it's Suarez people are all over it, When it happened a lot of people creamed themselves and started giving their little say The media are just as bad they forgot about how we dominated best part of the game but concentrated on the accidental handball by Suarez. This will be talked about for some time

This whole thing is similar to a couple of games I've played just this season.
As some may know, I play Hockey, one of the rules is not being allowed to use your feet to touch the ball. On two occasions this season we have lost a goal, a crucial goal, because an opposition player has kicked the ball in the area, it has then not been seen by the umpire. The opposition carried on and scored because they gained an advantage from what should have been a foul, both times we went on to lose as those goals gave them a way back into the game.
Of course we complained and moaned to the umpire but the goal stood. The opposition also had the chance to own up, they clearly knew what had happened (you could see they were expecting to get called back), but they didn't.

Anyway my point is you play to the whistle and if you get an advantage you take it. All these people saying they would have owned up are talking bullshit, its very rare that someone will play honest. I've seen it.

If you take the time & trouble to lookup "Terrorwit" in any half decent dictionary, it reads "See Twat"
I did that, looked up "Twat" and it said "See Terrorwit"

by the letter of the law you guys shouldn't of had a goal a couple of years ago after it was put in by a certain beachball. I don't remember any Sunderland players approaching the ref on that day?!

I love fans that start harping on about explaining to their kids, this is well funny.

I have a 5 year old and this is how that conversation would go..........

luvgonzo - Yes he scored but it was handball so it shouldn't have been allowed, the ref or the linesman should have seen it.

5 year old son of luvgonzo - What time is Ben 10 on?
