As its quiet on our board, i would like to gather opinions on who has been our best signing under Fergie, there's been so many, for me it has to be Eric Cantona, he started it all, for £1.2 million, that was a lot of money in those days, i seem to remember we were after David Hirst from Sheffield Wednesday but they refused to sell him to us, and as they say the rest is history, he helped us to win 4 premier league titles, he helped the likes of Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Butt and the Neville brothers to the first team in 92, i would've said Van Persie but i would need him to have at least 2-3 seasons with us and helping us win trophies as well.

so far its a choice of, RVN, King Cantona, Ronaldo and Rooney but players like ole gunnar solskjaer and Hernandez deserves a shout too because they are great bargain buys.

definitely would of put RVP in the list but i think i agree with u saying we need to wait 1 or 2 seasons and see but im sure in few years time he'll be there as one of Sir Alex's best buys

Agreed, i thought about putting Chicharito in there and Smalling,, both of them were shock signings especially the latter, Arsenal were in for him, now look at him, a premier league champions and an England international in the space of 3 years, whereas Chicharito, there were no rumours of him joining us, he and the club did well to keep that one quiet, and for the price we got him for was a bargain.

Peter Schmeichel for me, the fact it took years and numerous keepers just to replace him says everything really.

Howard was easily the best of the rest, but the rest included players like Van Der Gouw (decent bench player but nothing more), Culkin, Taibi and Rachubka.

Im going to argue the case for Ronaldo.

    Imagine if we'd kept him!

Some like to argue Messi is the best in the world, some like to argue Ronaldo. But the point is he's been one the best players on the planet for some six years now. Who would have thought the snotty looking 18 year old kid doing step overs and falling over all the time would go onto be in the top two players in the world for half a decade.

**Edit. Welcome back Matth, didn't take you long this time.

Ronaldo is the best player weve ever had IMO, and we sold him on for a massive profit, so I'd have to say him:biggrin:

    For a variety of reasons (profit made, masterstrokes, cheapness, games played etc. etc.) I would suggest Fergie's top ten signings, in no particular order except No.1 is No.1, to be;

    Eric Cantona
    Dennis Irwin
    Ryan Giggs
    Peter Schmeicel
    Royston Keane
    Ronaldo
    Edwin van der Sar
    Ruud van Nistelrooy
    Jaap Stam
    Nemanja Vidic

    Good shout.

Mine would be similar except I'd swap Ole for Nemanja <ok>
