just seen this hope its true i agree with the new stance on 30+ players but Frank for me should be different he should be offered atleast 2 years as he's still in great shape is playing well and lets face it is without a doubt Chelseas greatest ever player. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-ready-to-extend-frank-lampard-1521165
All lies apparently - Despite suggestions of recent dialogue between Lampard and the club, Telegraph Sport understands that these discussions were designed purely to appraise him of Chelsea's position rather than to offer him any hope of a new deal. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...th-Frank-Lampard-in-the-immediate-future.html Telegraphs unfortunately normally always spot on as well compared to the mirror
Seriously - why at least two years? What's wrong with one year? Complete the year and if he is still fit and playing well then he gets another. If he is holding out for two years then he is just hedging his bets against injury and loss of form. I fear there is too much sentimentality re these issues eg the absurd flags at the Southampton match insisting RA changes his mind on FL.
My hopes were lifted and then dashed in the space of 5 mins of reading this. Papers should be forced to stop all this crap they make up. I do agree with one year though and then review after that. He's proved he still has it, so what the hell are they playing at.
Lampard won't be given a new contract. His time here will be at an end and he'll leave in the summer because he is out of contract which is a shame because He is a great player and I feel that he still has an important role at the club. The club should have offered him at least another year. Just look at Giggs and Scholes they are older than Lampard is and they still get game time at Man United. Lampard is younger than those two and he is still contributing by scoring goals.
Can't they agree on a rolling contract, with certain criteria needing to be met for Feank to get another year, main point though is Frank is not worth his wage anymore, that needs to be halved and I will have the same stance on Cole and Terry if they want to continue past their current deals. 75k at the most otherwise we find the talent(which is out there) to take their place For example I am sure Leighton Baines would take on 70k to play for us , and Jack Wilshere is only getting 85k Wages per year are equally as important as transfer fees in FFP
A shame really, great servant. Definitely worth a year more at least. He won;t b wanting to start every game ffs, I am sure Frank is being realistic in that department. He's featured little and still brought 3 points back from a tough game.
