I did not think asbestos was a good comment to make, every one has a right to an opinion, and would not question that.but would feel sorry for someone who loses life to asbestosis,so did not see the relevance of the asbestos comment.
For fear of going over old ground, if Waggy is the answer then I'm stumped as to the question. All of that said, it is a legitimate argument that he could have played yesterday. Green, for me, is our most potent attacking option in the RM position. However, he has spunked his (albeit cursory) chance and CP has managed the life out of him. So he is history. Our next best options in RM are Wilson (very good) and Pritchard (not very good but energetic and much better in the middle). After that we have Cook who has been the invisible man. The point of yesterday as has been said above was to see what he is like in a competitive game. After yesterday. It is obvious that he is crap and should be on his way too. Then we have Waggy. I can just about see the try him on the left scenario because we have nothing there either. However, if we are being blunt we need to sign some decent players and we have a sizeable "dump list". Waggy is very firmly on that list. Sure we could have played him yesterday as it is clear that we don't as a club give a tuppenny toss about the cup. But it would have proved nothing that we don't already know.
So whats the point of in the squad.out of the squad?,on the bench and never used....Soul destroying i should imagine.......
Jimbo- Green has always been inconsistent. I was told that by a Daggers season-ticket when we signed him. His words were along the lines that he is a match-winner on his day, but you never know which Danny Green is going to turn up. Undoubtedly true- he was fantastic against Premier league Fulham last season, but when he did have a run in the side there were days when nothing came off for him for 90 minutes. The point is that maybe it's not his managers who are to blame, the answer is elsewhere.
Don't disagree Bill and I'm coming round to the view reluctantly that Green is a liberty even if that is a terrible shame. However, if he is a brittle confidence player than I would have handled him differently from CP ( who, btw, should have done his homework before he signed him). That's all I'm saying. Waggy is a different case. I like him but he's just not good enough. CP knows that. Like GMR though, I believe that his current treatment is unfair. Either he's good enough to be in the squad and therefore get a shout or he isn't. I've made own view on that clear. I have no problem if others disagree for example I think Stephens is a good player. Loads don't.
When you think about things too much it really highlights some of Chris Powell's shortcomings, doesn't it?
Bluntly Kish, yes it does. I am a huge CP fan. His understanding of the club and his place in our hearts is for me well worth persevering and hoping that he learns his trade with us and goes from strength to strength for many years to come. I say that gladly and for the avoidance of doubt. But does he have shortcomings? Oh yes!!!
As you say I hope he'll learn his trade fully with us because of his past, and expect he will, but if he was to leave now or was tempted to another club then it would seriously limit his progression! I wouldn't expect him to last long outside the Valley bubble. He doesn't even wear nice suits anymore.
Look at any manager closely and you'll find his shortcomings. It's usually how the media puts pressure on managers by delving more in to that club on any given day as opposed to the other 19/23 teams in the league. As I said earlier, the only reason I can think cool started ahead of the two was because he knows what they have to offer. He probably wanted to see cook in action against a championship team, but in the knowledge that 3,points weren't at stake.
Yup. If he's not good enough and not wanted he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. If he is in the squad then he should be under consideration to play. Don't see the point in having Waggy on the bench if he has no chance of getting on which is how it would appear.
I take it you don't do irony then! I think I made my favourable view of CP clear but he is not and should not be above criticism, or indeed a bit of sarcastic humour. If you don't get it that's fine, but less of the "sh1t" please.
Misunderstanding it seems. Please remember we are the rose tinted ostriches with our head in the sand who have nothing bad to say against CP, CAFC or the board
Not a misunderstanding. I stand by what I said, even though I edited it later because I didn't feel like the argument. No way is Powell beyond reproach, but he deserves better than that. Put it this way. It's the type of garbage I'd expect to read on Owlstalk about their manager.
