Listening to the local radio news and Nick Barnes revealed that injury and illness was the reason for only 6 subs and nothing to do with making a statement to Short. We are down to the bare bones now. The team for Saturday, especially defence, will pick itself as there are no alternatives.
there is no excuse to not fill the bench what about the lads from the development squad Deacon, Reed, Mandron, Laing etc.
But we don't know whether the illnesses didn't occur on transit? Maybe 2 or 3 went down overnight mate and left us snookered? We shouldn't pre-judge this as anything but unfortunate. There is nothing in it.
SAFC is not obliged to have the maximum number of substitutes, after all you can only field 3. I would love to ask MON if he agrees with the number of substitutes that are available - my suspicion is that he would say it favours the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Manure who could probably field 2 teams in the premeirship and would be happy with far fewer. It would probably be a Clough type response IMHO.
It was Bolton lads not Outer *****lia a 3 hour car journey at the outside. FFS I would have drove a couple of lads down there at 9 and still be there for 12.
There is a little alarm bell ringing with me here Mon is in the press saying that we have one of the smallest squads in the premier and the first thing we do in the transfer window is shift players out - they may not have been good enough long term but surely it is better to get replacements in first as other clubs seem to do. What happens if we cannot get our transfer targets in by the end of January? do we just take anyone who is available as a stop gap (again)
If you can shift players out who are not getting regular games and are not really Premiership quality then I would do it - the money we get now may not be on offer on the Summer and we are saving wages, a bird in the hand etc I you want to let your bells ring then feel free, mine aren't and won't be anytime soon...........its only days into this transfer window, days.
Don't joke, before xmas I went to play a charity match, felt fine. I am generally very fit and healthy and train 5 times a week. I played the first 20 minutes and then started feeling light headed and seeing stars. Had to come off after 35 minutes and collapsed. Turns out it was flu and I spent the next week in bed. I came down with it that quickly. It was quite scary at the time though and I was glad it was flu.
