The Allams have been accused of 'replying too heavily on loaned players' which at first I went with that idea. people said they're not willing to invest enough to buy players. The questions I now have is... Was a lot of City fans misjudging their system? Was it all along a try before you buy policy? It seems very intelligent to me that you can try the player if he's decent, you sign him. If he turns out to be not what we're looking for, you send him back. I think it was a very astute bit of business by the Allams and it seems to have worked.
I agree, if we have bought Brady for say 2M, then we have a much better idea now that he is starting to live up to his potential. You could have taken a punt last year and got him cheaper, but it would have been more of a gamble.
Exactly. It's less risk. I like the way they appear to be doing things. Saves a lot of time and money in the long run getting players in full-time that you actually want.
Cameron Stewart - initial loan then a perm transfer. It's all gone teats up. There is no magical formula to loaning/buying players. Managers reckon if they get 7 out of 10 right then that's a good record.....
I understand what you're saying. But Stewart was done under a different manager. I don't think they're prepared to start questioning their manager's decision. I'm not saying it's a 100% the correct method but the Allams have had a lot of stick, unfairly I think.
I've had it all over my Facebook. People saying they're not willing to invest. A lot of Allam stick has been on he Hull City Official Facebook by from some fans.
To be fair, I'm not on facebook, but the Hull City facebook page has been mentioned before for the type of person posting on it being far from representative. The opinion of the Allams doesn't seem to follow through to messageboards.
It was entirely the correct strategy to adopt, even more so under Nigel Pearson when the finances were still being tackled. Of course you won't get a 100% success record. In the case of Cam Stewart, before his injury, he looked to be a nailed-on bagain when we opted to buy him from Man U. Most Facebook so-called City fans are fair weather sheep. Eager to type the most useless comments. If we win, City are the best ever, if we draw or lose everything is ****. There are a number of Hull FC & Leeds fans on there just trying to **** spread also.
Fair point mate. I guess it's not the general view of City fans, as it wans't a view of mine. The Allams have been awesome since they've come here. I have nothing but respect for what they've done for our football club.
Maybe I was just eager to stop the crap that people spread on Facebook. But yeah, I guess this messageboard and Facebook differ greatly.
CORRECT ! ! ! Think where we would have been now, without the Allam Family, I, for one am grateful for what they have done for Hull City FC. Doubt very much that we'd have been in any league right now. Hoping City get back to the Premier League and secure the investment and confidence they have given to true supporters
The people who post on the City Facebook page all seem to ******ed. I suspect they have an average age of eight.
The permanent signing of Stewart was definitely during the first few months of their tenure. Granted, the initial loan was agreed before they bought the club. But the point I was making was that there is no golden rule that says 'loan a player first then sign him on a perm if he does the biz'. Loans can often re-kindle a players career in favour of the parent club - which I'm a bit afraid may be the outcome with Elmohamady.
Their success in business is fantastic and they definitely know their stuff in the field of marine engineering but having spoken to a club employee last week, I was told that by their own admission, they are new to the world of football, commercial activities and transfer dealings, we may need a director of football purely to deal with transfers.
Facebookers are the same people who think texting is the equivalent of having a conversation, its just inane banter, which is fine but twitter/facebook is not the real world. If you want a debate about City or gauge opinion you use the fans messageboards, and this should be the same for club officials and the media. We have used the loan system successfully for quite a few years, it isn't specifically an Allam family policy but does reflect well on the club that top PL clubs are happy to loan valuable players to us. Buy the best ie Meyler/Brady then go back in and loan a striker seems the obvious thing to do.
My feelings, exactly!! We don't want to lose them and we've got this far with them. So the squad's strength is maintained and (with loans in freed-up loan spaces) we add more strength.
