I think Harry may be telling the truth ................. for the simple fact, unlike MH, Harry won't pay top dollar for players and with our current placing on the ladder, they won't come for anything less than top dollar. Hope I'm proven wrong.
good,we must have some sort of contingency if we go down. One or two loans, but get rid of high earners first.
Agreed, but cant help but feel without any activity we will go down....a couple of deals on the other hand could well save us. We are desperate for a decent striker and possible Nelsen replacement imo.
We really only need a decent striker ............the rest will suffice, we just need More Goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was at the game yesterday and we didn't look like scoring in a month of Sundays till Dyer's SWP moment. DJ worked hard but won't find it as easy to score against premiership defences as those in the championship. Betty either fouled his man or passed them the ball each time he got in the mix, but to be fair to both of them they got little decent service. Steve Clarke is no mug, he had Adel well marked and he won't be the last manager to work out that apart from Adel, we've got no creativity. Mbia is a joke in the opposition half and actually got booed for 2 of his long range efforts. Granero was so ineffectual he was subbed at half time and Haim was supposed to be providing service from the left but has no left foot + didn't go into their half. Bizarrely, our defence looked more solid than on Boxing day but we need more creativity, yes, Harry needs more midfielders!
This. For all Harry's vocalised casual attitude, if we don't replace Nelsen with a player of the same or greater stature, we're as good as down. Nelsen's announcement has just made this month absolutely critical for us, if it wasn't before.
Therefore, we have plenty of midfielders, but the wrong type. One of the problems is that the midfield are spending too much time helping out the defence so there is no cutting edge due to the abysmal lack of service to the striker/s...
Having settled left and right backs would help. We seem to have found our ideal centre-backs (for now) but can anyone name our best pairing at full-back? Noticed Fabio wasn't even on the bench yesterday. Dyer only seems to be able to play one game in five and for obvious reasons, players like Onouha and Haim have been used for defence only. I hope Harry goes after someone like Danny Rose who can attack as well as defend.
Mbia has looked pretty good at times to me...can see him making more powerful surging runs. Also produced a quality through ball for Cisse not long ago!? Granero was taken off due to Hamstring no? Haim was played out of position as we had no left back to come in...Redknapp said as much in the post match
Fair enough Jammers. Hope you're right about Mbia. Personally think Harry about to sell Granero and 'slight' hamstring injury a smokescreen but we shall see!
Yeah it is clear to see Granero has not settled as well as we all hoped he would...hopefully he will stay and Redknapp will get him back to his best, but at the moment I would not be hugely surprised to see him head back to Spain.
I think we are going to need Granero's assurance on the ball, and really hope he stays with Harry getting the best out of him. I can think of 8 players at the Club who are right backs, or who can or have played there recently - Onouha, Bosingwa, Dyer, Young, Favio, M'bia, Haim and Ferdinand, then Mackie and Diakite can fill in there too I think, so don't see we need a new RB! At left back we are well covered with Traore and Favio, and others can fill in there too. I think we got a definite need for a top, quick CB, plus a replacement for Nelsen if he goes. And we need 2 decent strikers. We could use a goal scoring midfield player like Lampard, but then need to offload someone there.
I can see Fabio going back to Utd. He had not nailed down a starting place and think Harry will use his two loan options better
We can get any number of foreign loans so thats what id be looking at. Dont we also still have one domestic loan left as well?
