I was thinking the same thing. Now we can have a nice rest while Laicesterare playing just acouple of days before our rearranged home game with them. How sad. And I wish Hull every success in all the rounds, we don't play them till the last game of the season we want them tired and losing before we get to that.
I suspect eyebrows will also be raised at Hull, Palarse, Middlsbrough and Leicester. It's the jacks turn for cup finals, we've had enough Wembley appearances.
Hi H, I was expecting us to go down at Posh as we put out the reserves as well, thankfully they didn't even bother turning up and the game was ridiculously one sided. No doubt in the next round we will field the 2nd string again and get dumped out. Rubber Ball - you are so far off the mark, stop getting wound up over nothing, there's a good lad
good to see your not a sad bitter taffy then,go get yourself a take away but maybe not a big MAC and the coke will have to be in a paper type cup as the cardiff bottle has gone missing early this season.
Not hiding but I thought I'd return the compliment , (you appeared recently on SWANSEA's) board with a delightful insight into the mind of someone who isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Yes I admit your recent wembley visits have exceeded ours but I think someone should tell you, you don't get nothing for coming second
Nothing in my post about RECENT Wembley visits pal , now read it again S...L...O...W...L...Y ! Spotted it now ? .......... No , Ok I'll tell you - It's F.A Fkn Cuppp finals. Now the whole of Wales are waiting with bated breath to witness the mighty swans first appearance in THE ONLY FINAL worth appearing in ..........Only 4 more cup ties pal....good luck
The unwanted visitors are SO missing the point. Look at the side we put out as explained in my earlier post. The F A Cup was very low down on Malky's list of priorities for this season, if on there at all.
This may refresh some convenient amnesia
Nor me. I have no interest in what the jacks do a all. Just the same as I have no interest in what wigan or arseal or macclesfield do. Boring.
To be honest, i was in two mind whether i wanted us (Hull City) to go through or even get the equaliser late on to get a replay. Fair play to Orient, they wanted it more. But i'd rather concentrate on the league at this stage of the season. We were playing our second string, which shows we've not got a great deal of depth to our squad. I'm guessing that was the same with you boys yesterday?
At the risk of repeating myself: - "18 front line first team players were not included in yesterday's squad. I think all of that paints a pretty clear picture as to where our aims lie this season."
Golaccio! I think yesterday highlighted our lack of depth. Half of our squad are capable of getting us up to the top table, most of the other half are good long term prospects. Anyone who now doubts we need to strengthen in this transfer window are burying their heads in the sand.
ITI I wouldn't argue that we could use another full back and quality striker however I think all yesterday showed was that some of our youngsters are not up to it, Macclesfield were very much up for their big day and the likes of McNuggs and McPhail may be coming to the end of their time with us. However, 18 front line players did not feature amongst the 18 selected yesterday. If you add Lewis, McNuggs, Nugent, Ralls and possibly Declan John to that mix (as their peformance would all improve when playing alongside better players) then we have a good strong squad with double cover all over the park. We are 10 points better off than after 26 games last season when we only won 3 out of 12 points in February and 8 out of 24 points in March - only 11 points in 11 games. With this group of players I simply can't see us performing as badly and the addition of 1 or 2 of the right quality (not just squad players) will ensure we make the difference. If we maintained the 10 point difference that would not have got us auto last year but the 10 plus another 5 would. Also, the league standard is a lot closer this year so I cannot see more than 2 sides getting close to the magic 90 point mark. 11 wins from the last 20 games is well within our reach and that would get us to 89 points - job done!!! BUT - Malky's philosophy of taking one game at a time is the right way and take nothing for granted. P.S. Hell of a finish to the game at the Liberty - can't see them letting Graham go now with his recent scoring exploits.
^^^^^^^^^^^ This! (EDIT - what Bobby said.) There is a at least a gulf, but more like a chasm between our first 15/16 first team frontliners and the side put out yesterday. Even if the present first team squad stay fit and capable of playing every game, they will surley run out of steam at some time. We need some fresh blood in the next few weeks. You could pick out Nugent, Declan John and Rallsy as potential slot ins, but the rest are nowhere good enough at the moment.
I think most of them could step up into the team if they had the rest of the first team squad around them, just like Nugent and Ralls did when called upon. It was playing without the likes of Hudson and Bellamy to talk to them or chivvy them that they lacked.
