ironically the same point you mentioned can work for Suarez favor, as RVP have many good players behind him to feed him while Suarez is doing that by his own

I, like everybody else, wanted him to suffer one of his long term injuries when he first joined Man U. But having witnessed his utter genius so far this season the over whelming feeling is a kind of painful happiness knowing that his talent is at the forefront of a major title and trophy challenge. Plus I'm sure even non gooners still see Arsenal everytime we see him celebrate...which creates a feeling that a part of that success belongs to us.

It would be criminal for a player like him not to have a premier league medal before he retires... something that we as a club no longer show the ambition to provide.

The Arsenal of 1998-2003 would be an appropriate place for someone playing at his level...but it looks like the current Arsenal no longer provides players of his ability the platform to exploit their potential.

Yes I know he was with us for a long time but the first 4 or so trophyless years you could argue was a transition period...but now that the we are in season 7 (or is it 8?) there is an air of permanence about the situation... holding tight and waiting for the FFP rules is symptomatic of this.

This is season 8. :) And by the looks of things, (stats say so as well), we are getting worse and worse. We thought last seasons start to the season was bad, yet Wenger outdid himself and made us go through a worse start to this campaign than the last!

It's bad enough the results are going bad, but on the field, our play has dramatically suffered, while we were once the best team to watch in the land, only rivalled by Barca, we have now become quite unpleasant on the eyes. Our game is slow, often passing the ball backwards, or passing it no where. Barely any good movement or sharpness etc.

This club is badly regressing. Even when we weren't winning things and were only ending in the top 4, it was still a formality, only in 2006 did we have to fight until the last second to get the top 4 spot, but in 07, 08, 09, 10, 11 etc, ending in the top 4 was always a formality and not really something we had to badly fight and challenge for, unlike now, where we find ourselves in a situation in which we have to scrap and fight tooth and nail for that top 4th spot.

The gap between us and the top team also continues to steadily increase, we are 18 points behind United, that's just beyond pathetic. Even though we have a game in hand, we should never ever be 18 points behind the top team, game in hand or not.

Van Der Sar speaking the truth about our pathetic situation, rightly calling us a selling club:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20910581

Some may not like it, but only if you've got blinkers on will you deny that he speaks the facts. No other supposed big elite club sells as many of their main players as Arsenal have done. Nasri, Fabregas, RVP, Song, and the list goes on and on.

Obviously Arsenal PLC won't mind that label, as they're more than happy to be a selling club as it means $$$ for their 'brand' which comes before everything else now.

The situation of our club, is quite frankly, pathetic, that's the best way to sum it up.

Sigh and yet again the over-reactions. Yes the board did mess up over RvP and other transfers (though the players in question aren't blameless either) and we are farther down the pace than would be liked, but "pathetic" is not a label that should be branded with the club.

The FFP rules are all smoke and mirrors...they won't change ****.

    RVP decided he wanted trophies and a **** load of money which conveniently ignored that;

    a) he was earning **** loads at arsenal and was offered even more ****loads to sign a new deal
    and
    b) he was part of the team that failed to win a trophy for the past 7 years

Footballers by and large are self serving, money orientated publicity seeking glory hunting two faced souless twats who have no concept of loyalty. It was funny for gooners when spurs players jump ship (like carrick; berbatov; Keane etc.) and funny for us to watch your best players leave it terms of football banter but actually it makes football a lot less enjoyable ... long gone are the days of loyal players (by and large).

And in my old bastard opinion the prem league and CL money are to blame and it will all continue to get worse as the tv deals introduce more riches to encourage the players to continue to whore themselves out

What over reaction? Everything I stated about our position are facts, and when you look at it all, it is pathetic, shamelessly pathetic.

We are further down the pace than we'd like to be? As if this is the first time that's happened? That's become the norm, not the exception to the rule.

The way this club has regressed is pathetic, that's the only word to describe it.

Villa, Wolves etc don't have the resources we do. For the resources we have, we should be doing and playing much better than we are. And deserve much better than the rubbish we've had to put up with for a long long time with the likes of Gervinho and co.

When Villa and Wolves fans cough up as much money as Arsenal fans do, then ill slag them off. But for what we fans pay, and what our club generates, we are getting complete **** shovelled back on our faces.

Our bad patch is also down to our own making as well. What do you expect when you get rid of your best players? What do you expect when you have a stupid socialist wage structure at the club?

No ****ing wonder we can't pay the big wages to our best players, because we have useless ****ing players getting 50-60k a week, when they don't deserve anywhere near close to that.

if I recall fans the same people calling Gervihno rubbish were the same ones saying he should be CF after Southampton. IMO he isn't even that bad on his day, but he's horribly out of form, under pressure, and out of confidence, a good AFCON could see him coming back a better player.

It's time we had ONE big RVP thread, so every time he does something, the people that want to moan can use this thread and cry their hearts out until they are content. So this new thread about RVP has been merged into an old one which was still on page one. Where people just talk about the same **** and go round in circles.

And those useless players are on their way out or on loan. And really the only major loss we had because of wages was Nasri, but seeing as we were up against City, it was never possible. RvP left in part because of wages but also "footballing reasons" Cesc was ALWAYS going to leave for Barca, but now we are trying to replace them this window and in the summer.

Gervinho was never really that good, last season he was average, nothing special at all. This season he had 1 good month, and is back to his same useless self, only even worse than last season. If it was up to me, I'd depart with him.

We're already shifting the dead weight out in Chamakh, Djoure, hopefully Arshavin, and Squilachi go too, followed by Gervinho and Santos. None of these players deserve to wear the Arsenal jersey.

To be fair... I was coming at it from a different angle... ie to see how many have had their opinions changed by his performances.

This is different from the question whether we miss him.

Far from crying, there was an element of pleasure in seeing this great man achieve his potential.

Trust me, I seen about ten more of this RVP threads and they all go down the same path. At the end of the day, he is not an Arsenal players any more, so do not see the need to have so many threads about this same player every time he does something. As I have said, there was already a thread about him on page one.

Calling a genius a "prick" really does no favours to the impression one might have of your maturity.

You wanted him to suffer a long term injury, so no point taking the high moral ground to be honest.
