On the bright side, we were very fortunate to have him with us, mostly injury free, for half a season.

Whatever he decides, good luck to him, he deserves it.

Either way, Ryan Nelsen. QPR hero, maybe even legend. Wish the man nothing but good.

Never a legend or Hero if he leaves before the summer.

I'm sorry but I'm with Flyer on this one, although it's maybe a bit harsh. Why couldn't he wait till summer

Although never a long term signing, I would be gutted to see him leave now. He has been great for us so far and think he would be missed big time. A quality player would need to be brought in to replace him. Either that or Haim is his replacement and Hill / Ferdy are in the mix with him.

The Major League season starts in March, he'd need to be over there sometime this month to prepare properly...

Can't begrudge him this opportunity. He's been fantastic for us. In the same bracket as Ainsworth, Bircham etc. for me despite only being with us briefly.

Just goes to show that old man Nelsen, the has-been who'd be no more than a squad player for us, obviously wasn't on one of those contracts we're so adept at drawing up.

Maybe he should've been - especially with prospective young coach / manager and that word 'integrity' written all over him...

'The Project' clearly needs a bit of a review with certain areas tightened up PDQ.

Makes me laugh that. A "top CB"? Who will come to us?

Hardly. He's shown his commitment through his performances. At 35 it's not unreasonable that he'd be attracted by a very good opportunity to manage. If he were leaving us to just play there for a year then I'd agree.

Age is irrelevant for me. Been paid handsomely to play for us, so the least he could do is stay till the end of the season imo.

Not sure we'll attract much better than him tbh. If Micah Richards were to come, I'd be more than happy!

Is it only me who is a bit disappointed in Nelsen if he goes?

He signed a one year deal so committed to us for the season - pretty poor to leave us in this situation if he does do imo. Cant fault him wanting to get a managers job etc.. but seeing where we are in the league!

It really will leave us with a MASSIVE problem. Hate the idea of Ferdinand playing again. If Nelsen wants to go he has to tell us now and not leave it until the end of the window.

I don't want him to go, but if he is on a contract, presumably the club is letting him go, rather than him walking out. He may well have joined expecting to be 3rd or 4th choice CB, ends up playing nearly every game, even after massive trips to play in World Cup qualifiers. Might just want a rest, and is patently managerial material.

Disappointing but can't hold it against him, the only man who seemed to try against Southampon.

I would be gutted to see him leave however, if we were in his position what would we do for our family.
Somewhat disappointed that we don't tend to try to get players such as Derry, Hill and Ryan Nelson on a player / coach deal as these three for example offer a hell of a lot to younger players. Playing for the shirt you wear maybe something you cannot teach, and is something all three have in ambundance but appreciating hard work, dedication and being fortunate tp do a job al of us would like is maybe something they can teach as all have had to work thier wotsits off to get to where they are today

I for one wouldn't begrudge him for a minute. Disappointed? Yes, but he has put in more passion than a lot of our boys over the past 5 months. As previous posters have said, he was thrown right in it despite thinking would only be a bit part squad player.

Fair play to him I say. Blame the other slackers who are responsible for our league position, after all if we were on let's say even 20 points at the moment, would anyone be so despondent at losing Nelsen? Quick answer... No.
