This must be one of the lowest moments in Argyle's 90 odd years of league football.........Fletcher has a lot to answer for.......it will take hard work and new players to get out of the hole he has left us in.

Seems rather odd that the worst performance for a long while occurs immediately AFTER Fletcher is sacked and when the transfer window has been closed for several months, so if Fletcher had been sacked earlier, his replacement could have done very little to change matters. But it's still Fletcher's fault......

Whether Fletcher's departure has made things better or as it would seem far more logical based on today, worse, we certainly are in a mess now.

Its nothing to do with Fletcher going and plenty to do with Purse not playing ... like him or loathe him at least our defence was more secure when he played, not even golden boy Wotton played well today but then again I'm not a great fan of his so I could be biased in my opinion !

Good grief notdistant........it will take more than a few days to rid us of Fletcher's legacy......even you can't be that dumb.

He has done incredible damage in his sixteen months.......so disappointing that Brent didn't act months ago.

Is this not the same squad that on paper was as good as any in the league and only Fletchers tactical ineptitude was holding it back?

Lets be honest, conceed a goal and get a player sent off in a 5 minute spell. Not the recipe for victory is it. Don't think this had anything to do with Fletcher or Purse for that matter. This had more to do with Chadwick being, well Chadwick which is stupid. To play the second team in the league when you are struggling is always going to be hard at their place. To play for two thirds of the match with a man short as well says there is no reason to look for anyone else to blame. I listened to the last 20 minutes and according to Sparksie the Argyle players looked beaten and finished even then. 2 more goals followed which says a bit about some of their characters. He said his MOM was our keeper without whom it would have been far far worse. The new manager has a mountain to climb before he even starts.

If I was him I'd probably stay in Port Vale. At least if he was up in the stand then he could see what was wrong. Not that we all don't know that already.

If Sheridan was up in the stand.....he would have a great view of which strikers got back to defend dead ball situations.

One problem there of course....are lone striker got himself sent off with two-thirds of the match still to play.

So it was obvious that we really did miss Chadwick because they scored three more......sought of reverse logic........I hope he got a right ear bashing on the coach coming home.......he didn't have Fletcher there to defend his attitude today.

What is it with Chadwick......within seconds of the start he clobbers the Port Vale player off the ball and no official sees.

Straight from the kick-off after their first goal Chadwick repeats the same clobbering of the same player....what the hell is that all about ?

Has Chadwick got an Elephant type memory from way back when this player got one over on him.....or has he got nothing but cotton wool holding his ears apart and just didn't like his face and tried to rearrange it ?

A three match ban will mean we will not have to groan when we see him on the team sheet yet again.

That should cost him at least three weeks wages and being transfer listed (please)......or simply being dismissed.......we can't afford his attitude in the hard fight ahead.....and I sincerely hope that the new manager will bury him and bring in someone like out off favour Madjo who showed signs of life before Fletcher decided he didn't like his set piece defending.....pathetic.

Your so right mex......the Fletcher legacy will take a good manager awhile to undo.....is there enough games to save us from Fletchers inadequacies from dropping into the Conference......as I've said before half the managers in Div 2 would like to work with this squad if they could add someone who knew what those two white post with the thingy on top and the net was for.

Precisely Mexijan, that was the argument, wrong as it was. Now he's gone, his influence apparently lives on in the bad results but presumably not any good ones after a new manager is appointed. Drives you to despair doesn't it?

Any normal, rational person would say that yesterday's result was, if anything, due to the uncertainty and disruption to the players of having a manager who was popular in the dressing room sacked. A good argument for NOT chopping & changing your manager once a year to keep the mob happy I'd have thought.....

Added to that was having a player sent off after 30 minutes after we'd started quite well in an away game against a team 20 odd places above us in the league. Is that the 2nd time Chadwick's been sent off this season? Not a good record for a striker although I haven't seen either incident and have a very poor opinion of referees. Never mind Purse's absence, we've been **** in defence all season. The primary culprit here is Chadwick possibly aided & abetted by the referee.

Plymborn, with all due respect, it seems to be you that can't see the inevitable consequences of real-world football finances

Indeed neither do you seem to see that these days, strikers ARE partly judged by their work rate in trying to win the ball back as well as their general join-up play, especially if you're playing with a lone striker, which most teams do now. That's why goal machines like Jermain Defoe haven't always been first pick for club or country: they just don't do enough else except score goals.

I accept that's not necessarily how fans would like to see the game played but the fact is that those teams that play 5 in midfield and one up front tend to beat the ones who persist with 2 up front.

The facts of life may not be palatable but facts is facts none the less.....
