First time I've written a long article so sorry for any mistakes.

It has been a roller coaster ride this season. From the unthinkable point of fighting relegation to challenging for a Europa cup place, both of which are not the required standard that our club strives for.
This season has given Liverpool FC and its fans a fresh perspective.

When we look back to February 2007 and the ownership of Hicks and Gillett the club and fans were optimistic about the future. However the future we imagined was not to be.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/6323037.stm

Fast forward to October 2010 and another American is looking to buy the club, the fans are now a little more cautious but still hoping that someone can save us from what has become a Nightmare.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/05/boston-red-sox-owner-offer-liverpool

So far so good for the new owners but the fans are far from convinced. Only the appointment of Kenny Dalglish as permanent manager and the renovation of our Anfield home is going to win the fans trust completely. These 2 points will show that the new owners understand the ethos of our club, the tradition that the fans crave to be continued. We understand that the club need to evolve and develop within the modern football world but unlike other clubs our history is everything to us and cannot be left behind. I’m not saying a move to Stanley Park would be a disaster but it will have to be handled carefully.
The appointment of Dalglish is not up for discussion as far as fans, ex and current players are concerned and the sooner they appoint the great man the better. (Maybe it will be announced at the last home game which would end the season on a great point).

So what does the future hold?

A lot has been said about our first team squad this season the so called experts in the media called us a 2 man team (Torres & Gerrard). So what has changed? Simply the change is down to a combination of the right people in the right jobs McParland Segura and Borrell in the reserve and youth set up and Lee, Clarke and Dalglish in the first team set up.

It’s quite obvious at this point that we are far from a 2 man team. Players that the most loyal of fans still wanted out like Lucas and Maxi are starting to show their quality.

We then have youngsters coming through. Kelly, Flanagan and Robinson are of the required standard to play for Liverpool.
Jay Spearing is also starting to emerge as player for the future. Ask any Liverpool fan and they will rave about the likes of Pacheco, Suso, Coady and Sterling as future stars.

Gerrard has a few years left and Carroll and Suarez are formidable.

That’s not to say there isn’t work to be done, there is an obvious lack of players that can play wide. Kuyt does an admirable job but is a striker and Sterling needs another year at least. There is a lot of dead wood that needs to be moved on Jovanovic and Poulsen are simply not needed.

The center back position needs to be addressed Agger is a quality player but injury prone and Carragher cannot last forever.

On reflection I believe our club is now headed in the right direction the first team and youth set up is excellent and with Dalglish in charge anything is possible.

I agree with the sentiments in the article. If we can add what Arsenal have and seeing we already have what they don't and thats balls of steel.I reckon within a short period of time,we'll take some stopping. Its up to the owners to provide the manager(Hopefully its Kenny) with the funds to get us what Arsenal have and thats much needed flair.Call this premature,I reckon we're 3-4 flair players short of being champions.

    Excellent article.

The future is very bright indeed. Like you have said, the owners seem to understand Liverpool Football Club. We have excellent players coming through and with the right players brought in the summer, we can start going back to the top of English football.

Things have improved and they haven't really done anything yet.
I can't wait until they do something.Okay they stopped the rot by telling Hodgson ''thanks but no thanks'',and appointing Kenny which was always going to go down well. The players that know him worship him,and the ones that don't ''say how high when he says jump''.I also agree that the introduction of Steve Clarke was a masterstroke. He compliments Sammy Lee perfectly,as Steve Clarke can be ''mister nasty'' to Sammy's ''Mr Nice''.It was like that under Kenny with Ronnie Moran and Roy Evans.

I'm a Cardiff fan (so no-one can accuse me of being a 'delusional' Liverpool fan)

I think Liverpool have had a lot of false dawns over the years, there was the Treble in 2001 and Istanbul in 2005 but still no league title.

But I think this is a real exciting era for the club. Kenny knows what he is doing and I really fancy Liverpool for a title shot next season. Sign him up NESV!

If they can continue this form, and to be honest, its frightening and add a bit of real flair,a title challenge is on.I'm not going to suggest that Liverpool will be crowned champions next season, that would be ludicrous. However one step at a time.I do believe however that Kenny would be able to eliminate that fatal flaw that Rafa had in 2009 and thats balancing free-flowing football and rigidity. Both work and both don't,and I reckon he can find the perfect balance between the two.

I firmly believe the key to success is mental strength and togetherness and unity with a bit of added flair.
However two of those can't be bought, but Kenny has instilled them.
I've read nonsense on these boards that its a short-term thing because its the return of a popular manager, and Kenny can't last a full season and he'll crumble under pressure.
Some managers look older at the end of a season than they do at the start.Kenny seems to look younger than he did in January.I reckon he's thriving on it,and saying ''pressure, what pressure''.
As for form.Well if he manages to win the next two games,he'll have won 12 out of the 18 games that he's been manager. Now thats a 66.66% win rate.I believe that in order to win the league you need a minimum of a 70% win ratio. With additions in the right area, and I know for a fact that Kenny signs for positions and doesn't make signings just for the sake of making signings, can this be achieved.I'm optimistic and more confident than I have been in a while.

i reckon we should get cissokho or contreao for LB both are decent defenders and immense attackers, both have the ability to play further up the pitch if needed.

im satisfied with our CB's now, skrtle doesnt look like a headless chicken anymore and has being performing well recently, carra has lost a touch of pace but will still throw himself infront of anything for us, agger is class when hes available and on top of that we have wisdom, ayala, wilson, kelly all available there.

CM i feel we have enough there now, with the rise of spearing and lucas our mr consistent and gerrard returning. Theres shelvey and coady who can also play there however someone like defour, javi martinez, christian eriksen etc. would be most welcome

Wingers, everyone knows we need them and i think we should splash the cash here, we want to send a signal to our rivals, beat them to sanchez/mata/navas or whoever it may be

we obviously need some better quality squad players too, to replace players such as jovanovic, konchesky, poulson, cole (i think he should go, others may disagree), soto etc.
i think we need someone like a benayoun/garcia type player, someone who doesnt mind being a sub but when he comes on can dribble past the opponent, can play off the front or out wide and has a decent shot, popping up with the crucial goal like they both did so many times. (im not sure who could fill this role, any ideas?)
i have also mentioned this guy alot on here and 606: Seydou Doumbia from CSKA he is a 22 year old striker who has lightning pace and is a pretty good finisher, if we had this option upfront along with carrolls presence and suarez's trickery we would be unstoppable.

just my opinions off the top of my head
have high hopes for the summer

As a Hull city fan brought up in a Liverpool household, i always keep an eye on your boys (all most second team stuff), I think next year is going to be a good year. Shift your dead wood and bring in some players for depth and you will do well, I see Kenny having almost two teams made up from three players for each position, with youngsters/third choice been used in Europe (away especially) and in cups, I reckon your squad next year will be something like:

    Riena/Gulaszki/Jones

    Enrique*/Auerilo/Robinson
    Cahill*/Agger/Soto
    Carragher/Skirtel/Wilson
    Johnson/Kelly/Flannaghan

    Jarvis*/Maxi/???
    Gerrard/Nolan*/Spearing
    Lucas/Adams*/Shelvey
    Young*/Merelies/???

    Suarez/Pavlechenco*/???
    Carroll/Kyut/???

    ??? - Young players

Cost around £60-70mil, Outgoing around £40m

Good luck for next season, sure you will be amongst it!

Not so sure on some of your signings, wouldn't want Pav not consistant enough Nolan not good enough.

You will probably find Soto and Jones are sold, Jones is behind Gulacsi at the moment.

Strong rumours suggest that Liverpool are currently ahead of Man United in the chase for Ashley Young as Liverpool can offer him something Man United can't and thats regular first team football. There is another reason,Aston Villa won't take Bebe in part exchange.Even Beachball head who has taken many a Man United player has said he wouldn't touch him either.
Secondly,Kenny has set his sights on Juan Mata and he's one of the priorities along with Ashley Young in the summer.
Another name bandied about is Inter Milan's 18 year old Countinho, who is also what Kenny is after as he's a deep-lying playmaker.
Shane Long has been reported to be on the radar as 4th striker with Ngog departing.

Coutinho is definitely not a deep-lying playmaker, he is a tricky attacking mid. Granted it is possible to turn players in that position in to Alonso's, however I don't see him being capable of that at all. I've heard that Valencia are in a good enough financial position so that they don't have to sell their best players, which is a shame as I would love to see Mata in the prem.

Valencia are in a strong financial position?
Is £500 million in debt a strong financial position?
I heard a rumour they may have to sell players again this summer.

500 million euros apparently, yeah. Although interest payments are reportedly in the 20 million euro range (maybe 30, i forget) so they only really have to sell Mata to pay it for another year. Even then, they're in the champions' league, so maybe they don't 'have' to sell at all.
