I'm all for players with potential, but he's our only natural winger. Why don't we focus on bringing in wingers who can play well now rather than 12 months down the line?
Yeah I know, just saying it's not a full strength team. Regardless, the side out there should be more than capable of beating this lot..
It's just frustrating how ridiculously inconsistent we are. Hall was excellent against a decent Huddersfield side and yet looks dreadful against a fairly poor at best Birmingham side. Same goes for the team in general though tbh
Huddersfield is our only genuinely good performance in the last couple of months. I don't think we were as bad at Derby as people go on, and we were dogged, determined and looked decent against Palace and Leicester, but Huddersfield is the only game we've been in complete control of, at least from about 15 minutes on.
If we'd had a fully fit Austin in midfield against Derby I think the result could've been quite different, but alas, we didn't. I appreciate grinding out good results against top opposition through grit and determination, but while they were good results, they could've easily gone the other way. And until we start controlling and dominating games like we did at Huddersfield we'll continue to stutter in the league, because while it's possible to play averagely and still win, we can't do it every week..
The best teams win when they are playing badly - but not every week. I'm not sure we have it in our locker to really batter teams at the moment and that's one of the concerns for me - it's been forever since we saw Leeds really batter a team, in fact I think we have to go back to Nottingham Forest away last season.
Ye, Becchio 60th minute. One of their players gone off with a serious looking injury, took our momentum out of the game shortly after our goal.
Exactly, of course sometimes we won't be at our peak and we will have to grind out results - winning them is a sign of a good team. But as you say, we just don't ever look like battering a team or dominating them. Every performance is just us grinding out the odd result here and there, and we can't do that forever. Forest away last season though, now that was a proper performance. Some more of that would be lovely!
There was Doncaster Rovers away last season as well, Hull City at home. And the season before that we were battering someone every other week, unfortunately getting beat just as convincingly in between
we had proper options in both those seasons though. Snodgrass, Gradel, Sam, Watt, Howson, Becchio, an in-form McCormack, Somma, Keogh when he was here, Clayton...we don't have the same options anymore.
On a side note, Kieron Dyer just scored for QPR! Didn't even realise he was still playing! Shame he had the injuries he had, he was a top player..
