he could have that impact for sure, who knows... wesley sneidjer is the one world class midfielder out there who's not in spain at the big two. utd would give their right arm for him if he's right... why are they not in for him? A loan deal for david villa was rumoured, a loan for WS? all well and good if sahin goes back to real and over to inter as also rumoured but we paid what 4 mil for sahins loan and have not used him.... would WS be ready to play? he can't be match fit. who knows. VDV wasn't either but had that impact yuo mentioned. ...... i've always heard nothing but abuse between those sides so i can only imagine signing downing and displacing johnson or mcclean would not go down well.... sunderland need a MON big target man to lump it at adn a tall CB like dunne to0... not aonther winger.
Sneijder on loan is a possibility. He was actually offered to QPR by his agent, so he is quite desperate to leave and Inter are keen to get him off their books. His salary at Inter is 6.5 million Euros/yr, in contrary to 200ks that's been thrown in some sections of the media, and there is no way Inter would have have ever offered him that sorta money. Which means he would be on around 133ks a week. So if we did sign him, for 5 months he could cost us less than 3 million. Which is not bad to get a world class player. Gerrard has been more of a box-box midfielder this season. He sits deep along with Lucas or allen, so i could see Sneijder in an advanced role. I really doubt anyone would pay up the 12mill Inter wants, so a loan deal would be viable and good for both parties. And if the Gameiro loan deal works out aswell, This could be one of our best transfer windows in a long time. Again... only hope it turns out like this
Except it won't turn out like that and the only signing we'll get in now is Ince .. But I'd be happy if I'm proven wrong
Can't really see him here. He'd want massive wages, is quite old, and we're off the pace in the League.
we would only need him until the Summer. if he wasn't an ex dirty manc someone like Berbatov would have been a good option as well, yes he is in football terms old(in his 30's isnt he?) , but he would help us for the top 4 push and 28 isn't that old lol
I know. But the money we would have to spend on him/ compared to the money we would get for selling him in 4 or so years just doesn't add up. We like to invest in young guys atm and I just don't see Sneider or Berbatov fitting in that. I don't mind Berbatov, but can you imagine him not running around on one of those days where we just can't score? Would drive us up the wall!
Would Sneijder be good enough to make the difference of making the top four? If thats a yes then surely its worth the investment? Edit: but it won't happen. Obviously!
i meant more in terms of loan value not buying. either of those 2 would certainly add to our squad in terms of pushing for top 4 finish, and the value we would get out of that would be worth a lot more than the wages we would have to pay. its unlikely though, as if we went for a loan deal there would be a lot of clubs who would be attracted by that idea and we would probably miss out, but the possibility of CL football over looking for players for the future? we can do that at any time, if we have an opportunity now, i think we should try and take it personally.
True, he probably would. I think we need more than 1 player to get in top 4 though. 3 or 4 I would argue.
No! we could be in a much different position come summer. They are more likely to have an immediate impact than someonelike Ince(who could be a hit or miss). The whole point is to try and finish top 4. And with top players like them it becomes a whole lot easier. If not it could be another summer of awful signings. Any top player or even the half decent ones, want CL football. Wonder why Holtby signed for Spurs and not us. We can't afford another season without CL football, And it's not something impossible for us this season. If we show a lit bit more intent i don't why we won't make it. If there is a possibility of signing someone like Sneijder, if we are still ambitious enough, We should grasp the opportunity
to be honest i haven't a clue, i am only going by what is being said about the Inter situation, but it would be silly of us not to at least try(assuming we haven't already) and if true Qpr was offered him, (agent talk sounds like to me) but if not, we should make an effort.
Yeah why not? It would be a result if we got him, but i'm just not convinced he's on Rodgers and the board's radar.
As i mentioned earlier, i don't think a loan deal is impossible, in fact there is a very real possibility it could happen. But ofcourse we'll have to wait till the latter part of the window and when inter realizes they have no options to sell they are more likely to stick to a loan deal. I don't see any team willing to pay up 12 mill and a new contract would mean he'd demand around 180ks. But right now he is on about 130ks and loan deal till summer wouldn cost less than 3million. He want's to play and has clearly stated he wants to leave Inter. If we could convince him that he could be playing a big role here, and the likes of Suarez and Gerrard in the team would be appealing, we could pull this off. If there are no transfer offers for him he would have no option but to move on loan. Atleast he gets playing and if he does well, he could get more suitors or even sign for us. And 28 is by no means old, for a midfielder, right now he is at the very peak of his career.
Because we didn't make an ofer for him? Everyone talks about top players only going to clubs in the CL but Suarez came to us when we weren't in it. He came from Ajax who make the CL evey year so if it really was that important surely he wouldn't have left? Also we do something here that no other country does and that's talk down the Europa League as a competition which is more of a pain but a many others see it as a European competition which is important. If we are in that, and with the size of the club then that is still enough to attract top quality. Signing Sneijder on loan would go against what BR is trying to build which is starting again with young hungry players and not established ones who are coming for money (isn't he having a contract dispute at Inter?). If that's the case then surely it's only about wanting more money etc which isn't the type of player we need at Liverpool, no matter how good they are.
