I'd be happy to see E Bennet, Ward, Martin, Jackson, Smith, and the youth coaching management given the push, I don't think they are up to much with the things I have heard and we may be throwing money at a white elephant.

Would be sheer lunacy to get rid of Fox or Surman. They have shown that they can operate at Premier League level, don't exactly cost much in wages to have 2 quality subs/replacements. When they are on form, they are both unstoppable.

C.Martin, Smith, Ward, Vaughan, Barnett, Tierney, Ayala (replace with someone like Curtis Davies this summer or keep if he develops well) should all be shown the door, and with much sadness, Lappin too. That is 8 players who can be replaced and some of you want to get rid of 2 midfielders, the like of 1p5wich or Feeds United would kill to get their hands on? <doh> They cost us almost nothing to buy and yes, they could bring in a few million each, but surely it will cost more to replace them?

Elliot Bennett is a keeper for me. We should be developing his talent and giving him a chance more regularly. When he came on against West Ham, he made a real impact and provided the assist for the Norfolk Cafu finish.

How nice to hear a sensible Elliott Bennett comment ^ <ok>
Can he play left flank as well as right, does anyone know?

If so, he should be given a full match vs the Toon next weekend.

Getting rid of Elliott Bennett is one of the more ridiculous suggestions I've heard from Carrabuh in a while.
He showed his worth just last week when he created the assist for Rusty's goal having not been on the pitch for long. He is without doubt one of our most creative players, along with being versatile and I'd hope Hootun is looking to tie him down and give him more ame time rather than ship him out <ok>

I want to see EB starting he is a truly magnificent player his ability going forward is matched by his brilliant tackling and defensive cover work can't understand why CH does not alternate him with Pilks

I don't see why, he's barely played a full 90 minutes before being subbed or been a sub.

He's never been able to establish himself.

He's never shown any kind of consistency.

He's been good in patches, but I've never come away from watching him thinking he's had a blinder or had a massive influence on a game.

He's never been an integral part to a system we've played.

He's just a back up to the first team, nobody can say otherwise because it's all he's been for 95% of his City career.

If he was more consistent and played to a higher level I'd like him because he is my style of player. He's just not doing it enough for me, or for Lambert and Hughton so it can't be that "ridiculous".

Keeping E Bennett is a must for me. Good player. The reason he hasn't played much is because the current starting XI have been doing well. Also Snodgrass is playing right wing.

What about last year? He couldn't cement a place even without the additions of Howson, Snodgrass, Butterfield, Tettey.

I'd actually quite like to see him play up front before he goes as I think that might work better for him.

Neither could Hoolahan funnily enough, that was more down to Lambert's tinkering with personnel and formation. Bennett still played a lot of games though and made plenty of goals over the season.

This year Hootun is the opposite and rotates the team as little as possible, like he has done throughout his career, and that's why Benno isn't getting minutes at the moment. He won't let us down when he does play though, and when injuries and suspensions kick in he will play more and more <ok>

Best thing about Benno is his versatility. On the flank, in the hole behind a striker, or helping out the defence, he still puts in a tremendous shift.

I hope he plays a blinder today, to convince the gaffer - if that's what's needed <ok>

Hoolahan was certainly a player associated with a regular start last year, Bennetts starts were very few and far between and even rarer was him to complete 90 mins.

Bennett should be a player I like because of how he plays, but he just hasn't done it enough or regularly enough.

Looks like he may be playing further upfield today so my wish to see him in a more prominant role may be coming true.

Never thought a thread titled Dead Wood would turn into a debate about Benno. He's a super player, young, flexible, with plenty of time to develop. Kept out of the starting line up by the form of Plikington and Snodgrass, he has proved today how useful he is to the squad. If we sold him, I have no doubt that he would come back to haunt us. And his goal against Spurs last season was unforgettable.

Vaughan is deadwood - period. Should have never been bought in the first place. Ayala is certainly worth consideration as he is only 21/22 years old.
