hope we do not sign him

I really think we need a big physical presence upfront, I like Fletcher but we need some big **** who will boss it, win the headers, hold up the ball, score a few goals and have great link up play.

that sort of player might take a bit of money but I would rather see us go for that sort of player than a plodder like Graham! ffs he can't even get a game for Swansea! Luke Moore starts infront of him and he was finished years ago

This is the man for us....

Time to get shot down in flames.

The footy would be sh*te, as it is now, but Mandy upfront and Fletch feeding off him would work. Not pretty to watch but the results would improve.

    ...£8m from Ipswich!

Seriously, I'd rather sign a quality CM and a CB this window. We only play with Fletch up top and I'd happily see Wickham given games if he needs a rest, rather than seeing him relegated to more bench time behind a new striker.

agreed, get someone in onloan for the rest of the season and I think we should go all out for the lad in the vid in the summer even if it means benching Fletcher

we need a top class CB we really do, Lescott would be perfect

as for CM well it looks like we are getting the French lad and he seems to have all the attributes to be the big powerful box to box player we lack but we do need a top class playmaker in there who can get the ball sprayed about and get us going.

I agree although I believe they could be something in it, as I know for sure we were enquiring about him last summer.

Danny graham is another disaster waiting to happen ala Bruce, Clarke and Chopra (DGB's)

    I hope this isn't true

It will go well but soon as we get to the derby games, we will see his true colours and the game will be up for him. He will be off with his b&w mates all week in between games and it wont be long before an off the cuff comment; slur against us fans or the club, or another t-shirt incident emerges in the press and then the crowd will turn on him too. Its a ticking time bomb signing filth for this club.

We have had nowt but trouble signing craas in recent years and I'd be pretty angry if we did sign another b&w supporting player personally. He wouldn't get my support for certain.

Summed it up well here mate.

I can't understand why safc continually put themselves in this position?

Can you see Newcastle ever signing Rowell, ball or Micky Gary for example?

It just wouldn't happen. That's why this player should just be left alone

As fans, the mags would crucify ANY Sunderland supporting player that they signed but more importantly, they just wouldnt consider it in the first place

The issue here is with the players themselves, not whether or not they play for us.

It would so so so wrong to completely disregard signing a certain player because of who they support (you wouldn't turn someone down due to race or religion etc would you?). PROFESSIONALISM is the key word here. Where these players have displayed a lack of it is down to the individual. But to not even consider someone because of who they support is just as bad as what we are having a go at these people for in the first place.

In the case of DG though, he's just a bit crap and should be aiming higher (PL quality at the very least btw).

Venison was always clever NEVER to mention his boyhood allegiances after he signed for them.

ALL the mags we have signed, or have had as manager never stop mentioning it and some like Clark thought it was alright top wear anti Sunderland t shirts?

The only thing really offensive Venison ever wore was that ****ing hideous white leather suit he got wed in. He virtually wiped the memory of SAFC form the history books when he signed for them. Mags playing for us seem to love rubbing their b&w credentials in our faces at every turn.

Also, I don't hear many mags mention his name as one of their favourites and it was nearly 20 years ago since he played.
