They are right...very hard to get a bargain in England at the highest level.

 

I can't believe teams like West Ham haven't exploited Italy as well. Actually I can believe it as their owners are Gold and Sullivan and the manager is Allardyce. None of them have ever heard of Italy!

Nixon is convinced Saints are still chasing Butland this window, and that Butland will not be involved for Birmingham tomorrow.

 

Saw a Birmingham fan mentioned that Butland took extra long applauding the fans on their last game... not that it necessarily means anything, just an interesting thing to point out.

He wouldn't have answered so definitively if deals were being made behind his back. I'll be pretty surprised if we sign Butland.

 

Napoli officials are meeting with Siena on Monday to close the deal for centre-back Neto.

They have seemingly pulled out of the Astori deal, leaving him to come to Saints. (we all hope)

Adkins might have meant that one of the three present GK's will be the starter for the rest of the year and he doesn't think a replacement is needed.

But Cortese could still be pursuing Butland because he might be dirt cheap with Birmingham desperate for money. If you liked Butland for 6 million pounds in the summer, why wouldn't you like him for 5 million pounds with an extra half season of experience? I don't think it would be a bad signing.

 

Adkins also said that Gazzaniga was the future for SFC.

 

Adkins has no clue with many of our signings, in and out. He denied Yoshida days before he signed, and has said on numerous occasions nobody will be leaving the club, despite Sharp & Hammond both leaving.
