I saw Isco against Madrid when Malaga won 3-2 a few weeks back and the guy was awesome. Not seen him apart from that but a lot of talk about him and the fact Malaga were happy to get rid of Cazorla because they knew this guy would easily step up in his place says a lot. Not sure how much he'd cost but didn't Malaga run into money trouble after being taken over? Might be able to take advantage of that if it's true... Not sure we should read too much in to the "not much money to spend" or "possibly one more signing" we see it all the time to try and put teams off asking silly money and every year Slur Alex comes out and says he wont be buying anyone only to then go buy a couple of players... It's all talk at the end of the day, I'm sure if the right player became available at the right price then money could be made available.
don't want Lampard, assuming he was an option considering the wages he would be on, there is younger and better options out there, who could be made permanent as well.
I think we could compete with a lot of teams in terms of money (apart from the likes of Chelsea and Man City) but the obvious stumbling block would be Champions League football. Isco will attract a number of clubs and we will seriously struggle to compete in that sense.
So spurs bought Holtby, he will join them in the summer. My question is............. why did they buy Sigurdson then?
Not too fussed. Having said that though, considering our lack of money and current position, we may have missed out.
I do rate Holtby and would have loved for him to have come to us. Spurs are adding to their squad very well. Players like Bale, Dembele and now Holtb - they have a brilliant squad IMO.
Highly unlikely that Bale will still be their player next season imo, albeit they'll no doubt get a tidy fee for him. Sigurdson, Dembele, Dempsey & now Holtby? Where are they all going to play like?
we may do a lot better in the Summer, who knows. i see a big name signing coming, but what position and who no idea, but i do see us being more proactive in the Summer, and we do have a number 9 shirt to give away, a position that is unlikely to be filled in Jan, or not of the quality we would be expecting anyway.
We have been linked with him...... Think for that price you are better off going after some of the Bilbao players ( Ander herrerea, de marcos, muniain), Valencia ( Banega, Soldado), Sevilla ( Negredo, Medel, Navas), Michel ( levante), Koke.
Heard the QPR rumor yesterday and thought, who the **** made that **** up? Not gonna lie, would love to have him in the team, it would be one of those signings that showed intent, that we can still pull top level players, and just think he would be good for us.
Holtby's ok, he's nothing special that'll make a huge difference to their team. Not bothered and didn't want him in the first place. Would much rather push for real quality in the summer
Never seen the guy play, if I have, he's obviously not stood out... Also, if he's that good, do you think Shalke would have let him run down his contract? Surely they'd have know a while back and sparked a bidding war or tried harder to sign him on a new long term deal?
AVB and Sigurdsson joined around the same time. AVB cannot have been the one who decided to sign him. But Harry Redknapp had left weeks before this, so it cannot have been him either. Sounds like Rafa, Hodgson, Purslow and Cole. Neither manager wanted him, but he was signed any way whilst the managers changed over.
