The Roman Empire collapsed because they couldn't express the number zero. I just made that up but it might be correct.
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham David Meyler having the final stage of his medical with #hcafc today. Expecting it to be tied up either this evening or tomorrow. Back onto serious things, and this time hoping I beat OLM to it; this is good news!
The nearest to zero in latin is "Nulla" meaning nothing. So you would start by having Nulla and go on to one. The logic is that you cannot count Nulla. We still use Plus (+) and Minus (-) which are latin for more and less.
I'm transitioning between this and a 2000 word 3rd year uni essay on "Effects of Wind Farms"... safe to say McLean going to Dipswich and Meyler coming in beats it hands down.
I prefer the Greek philosophical approach of "How can nothing be something ?" Never mind, it was the Arab World that became the hero when it comes to zero..
This book is worth a read for all you zero nerds out there http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zero-The-Biography-Dangerous-Idea/dp/0285635948/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1357306011&sr=8-2
I have a maths GCSE and can confirm that any money spent on Meyler will be good value. Campbell won't be going for 7 million you would have thought given his lack of games.
