"When he played at Ajax he played in behind the central striker as a No 10, in between the lines. He also played as a reverse winger from the left side."

    A reverse winger?

False No.9's, 7 1/2's, now reverse wingers......he truly is re-inventing football (with post it notes that Maureen threw away <ok>) <laugh>

Those Brendan pictures have me in hysterics and I'm a big fan of the guy. He can keep the David Brent quotes coming as long as we keep improving on the pitch (Y)

Agreed. I prefer Rodgers and his brentism's over Kenny's grumpy old man demeanour and as long as the performances are consistently good we have nothing to complain about... it is funny though

I think he's already re-invented that position mate, as didn't he say that the keeper is a sweeper in his 'system'?

Goalie in & out lad. <laugh>

I think Borini being on the bench is fair. He is only 21.

But last season he scored the most goals when playing LF in a front three.

It is important t have good players on the bench. All season we havnt had a striker on the bench. But it is important to have one.

As long as Suarez keeps scoring and Sturridge ads goals I am happpy.

Presumably that'll be a right footer on the left (as an orthodox left winger would be left footed). Honestly TB, anyone would think you're just a troll looking for cheap points...<laugh>

You tell me, as in 35 years of following & playing the game that's a position I've never heard of............

With a screen name of St John it's no wonder you're a humourless soul

A reverse winger is a winger who instead of staying wide comes in narrow behind the striker or in the box. Some times they will run centrally in front of the striker.

As Rodgers said previously, the attacking full is constantly getting down the line. If the winger stays wide he will just get in the full backs way.

A reverse winger runs in between the full back and center back instead of straight at the full back.

Sturridge will not be a false 9, he will play like a proper striker. This move has been made to add more goals to our team.

Rodgers needs to stop telling every one his secrets and ideas in public.

Clearly you know less of the game than you believe you do. Not surprising given your devotion to tight-arsed rent dodgers from across the park.
Perhaps you should change your screen name to "The Bin Man"

    Secrets? <laugh>

Any wide player will move inside to allow the FB to overlap, it hardly warrants a 'new' title. It's nothing more than a meaningless soundbite, made with the intention of making something simple sound complicated, which is seemingly Rodgers MO.

The difference between us is I wasn't joking. And it seems a logical term for a winger who is going to come inside habitually, rather than outside. WTF would you call a winger doing that? Anichebe?

Reverse wingers run backwards. It confuses the opposition. When they retire from playing they become referees.

I mean that he will swap Suarez to a wide spot and put Sturridge in the middle.

I think we will see some thing like this (If Gameiro link is true and happens):

    -----------------Lucas---------Gerrard----------------
    --------------------Henderson/Allen-------------------
    --Suarez/Borini--------------------Sterling/Downing---
    ------------------Sturridge/Gameiro--------------------

I know Suarez and Borini are very different. Wide players could play left or right.

jkielq91 has a different explanation to you of what a reverse winger is, although you're both wrong as I have explained the definition of a reverse winger in my previous post.
