It's great to see Krul starting to get back to his best and I've always thought he was a very honest chaps.
Seeing this article this morning simply bolsters my view on our number 1 stopper:

    http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_0_18150_-.html

Tim Krul has relieved he believes his own personal form has not been good enough as Newcastle United face being sucked into a battle to maintain their Premier League status, Sky Sports has reported.

Newcastle lost 2-1 to Everton in their first match of 2013 despite taking an early lead through Papiss Cisse, with first Leighton Baines and then Victor Anichebe replying for David Moyes’ side. Krul was beaten from long range by Baines’ swerving free-kick, the 18th match of the season in which Krul has failed to keep a clean sheet.

The Netherlands international thanked Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, for installing him as the club’s first choice goalkeeper but claimed his own performances have not been of a high enough standard, adding that he was keen to show Pardew that his faith had not been misplaced.

Krul said: “I can't be happy with my performances and it hurts me a lot. I know the manager has shown trust in me, which is very important, but he gave me the chance here so I hope I can repay him.

“The last two games we've played fantastic stuff, but we've conceded too many goals. When you're putting a massive shift in and you've got zero points again, it hurts.”

Newcastle are two points clear of the relegation zone, having won twice in their last 15 games.

Krul's a good keeper and an honest enough guy, I'm sure he'll come good for us.

He's young and has had a poor spell. No good getting on his back, but also no point in pretending he has maintained his excellent form of last season. Neither will help him. He is a good lad with an excellent character and we surely knew he'd have these days when we plumped to put the eggs in his basket? What he needs is support from the club and its fans. I'm still convinced we have one of the best young keepers in world football. He'll get through it and having this kind of personal honesty will help him to.

I dont think he has been that poor the last few games. (Quite the opposite, played pretty well in all games, but hard to keep the ball out of the net etc when the entire defensive unit go walkabout for extended periods of time)
Agreed this season hasnt been up to the standards of last, but I like that he is dissatisfied with his performance compared to last year and is personally acknowledging it and striving for more.
He is a young lad and learnign his trade, but is also a class keeper and potentially could be one of the best, and can see him being with us for many years (fingers crossed)

Sorry, but apart from a couple of questionable moments recently, he's been solid whenever he's played.

He's kept us in games, but we still lost and it wasn't his fault. No one can blame Krul about a single point that has been dropped this season.

Your goalkeeper plays a part in the organisation of your defence aswell though. It should always be talked about as a back 5 for me. So he has to take his share of the blame. Hasn't been as commanding this year, shot stopping undoubtedly poorer and his kicking has been poor (never been that good). He has definitely improved of late and they've obviously explained about playing out.

The key thing as you say is he acknowledges it, isn't arrogant or burying his head, and we have a class act in the making. Patience is the key with him.

I wouldn't say Krul has been poor but I have to admit some of the goals he has conceded should probably have been saved. Evra's goal springs to mind and a few others recently
