AC Milan walked off the pitch after 26 minutes of a friendly against Pro Patria, after persistent racial abuse of their black players from fans.

Good for them. Love to see this happen in a competitive match.

I read that and good on them. No doubt if it happened in Europe, UEFA would fine the team and players and award the match to the other side.

No surprise really, Pro Patria translates as 'For the fatherland'...

When they walk off in a Champions League match I'll take them seriously...

Strange though, they are a small club in the backwaters of Lombardy, not too far from Milan, way down the league system and not in Serie A since the 50s.

From round there I'd guess that the Fatherland is Lombardy rather than Italy. Sadly there are plenty of racists in those towns, but they hate southern Italians even more.

I reckon Imaz might know a bit more about them. I lived in Milan for 4 years and actually played football in the town they are based in, never heard of them at that time.....

Imagine if they played the scum in a pre season friendly, racial insults would be flying all over the place from both sides.

    Fair play to them

Would to see that happen over here although saying that I don't think the race issue is as big over here as it is n Italy

    Very well said.

Busto Arsizio is Berlusca heartland and "For the Fatherland" is the sort of name that will attract scum. Italy is in a bad place, having Italian family it does me head in. **** them, let them suck Mussolini's dick for all eternity.

AC Milan's coach and board of directors have stated that they will do the same in any match where there is abuse. The coach Allegri, said "Italy has to become more civil and a bit more intelligent".

It should also be pointed out that the vast majority of the crowd at the game voiced their disgust at the abusers, a small but sickeningly vocal minority.

Roberto Carlos walked off the pitch in June 2011 when playing for Anzhi in Russia, after a banana was thrown at him. His team mates did not join him, but I'm not sure of the full circumstances.
