After reading that West Ham may bid for Rickie and Arsenal for Luke Shaw I thought it might be fun to play a valuation game...Just supposing that the club recieved bids for all of our first team, what valuation do you think that The Don would put on each player? i.e. what fee would the club accept? (not what you think they're worth). Paulo Gazzaniga 3m Nathanial Clyne 5m Jose Fonte 3.5m Jos Hooiveld 2m Maya Yoshida 4m Luke Shaw 10m Danny Fox 2m Jack Cork 7m Morgan Schneiderlin 8m James Ward-Prowse 10m Steve Davis 5m Jason Puncheon 6m Gaston Ramirez 15m Guly Do Prado 2.5m Adam Lallana 12m Rickie Lambert 10m Jay Rodriguez 10m
Paulo Gazzaniga 1.5m Nathanial Clyne 6m Jose Fonte 3.5m Jos Hooiveld 800k Maya Yoshida 4m Luke Shaw 10m Danny Fox 1.5m Jack Cork 7m Morgan Schneiderlin 8m James Ward-Prowse 8m Steve Davis 3.5m Jason Puncheon 4m Gaston Ramirez 18m Guly Do Prado 2.5m Adam Lallana 12m Rickie Lambert 8m Jay Rodriguez 12m Steeeeve 900k
Agree with most: Paulo Gazzaniga 5m Nathanial Clyne 8m Jose Fonte 3.5m Jos Hooiveld 2m Maya Yoshida 3m Luke Shaw 12m Danny Fox 2m Jack Cork 7m Morgan Schneiderlin 8m James Ward-Prowse 10m Steve Davis 5m Jason Puncheon 6m Gaston Ramirez 15m Guly Do Prado 2.5m Adam Lallana 12m Rickie Lambert 10m Jay Rodriguez 10m
Pretty fair prices, however i dont think you can price Morgan and JWP the same. Morgan is a proven class act and on the verge of full international honors and JWP although potentially great is still finding his feet.
If it's what the club would accept then I think you're grossly under estimating. Why would we sell gaston for 3 million pounds of profit now? He'll be worth 25mil+ if he continues the way he's going. Only 3 million profit on Jay would be daft young english strikers go for loadssss these days. Adam is the heart of the club and anything under 20million would be scandalous. Morgan, James, Clyne and shaw would also be worth considerably more. Rickie would also not be sold for 10 million.
Paulo Gazzaniga 5m Nathanial Clyne 9m Jose Fonte 5.5m Jos Hooiveld 2m Maya Yoshida 4m Luke Shaw 12m Danny Fox Packet of crisps Jack Cork 9m Morgan Schneiderlin 10m James Ward-Prowse 8m Steve Davis 5m Jason Puncheon 2m Gaston Ramirez 25m Guly Do Prado 3m Adam Lallana 15m Rickie Lambert 8m Jay Rodriguez 10m
suprised at the low prices given for clyne, so much talent and a load of potential to get even better
No he isn't. I'm surprised at how low people are valuing some of the players. I think it would take a daft offer for Cortese to even consider selling one of our first-team players. If Clyne or Cork would really be sold for around £5m, they would have gone by now.
Paulo Gazzaniga 3m Nathaniel Clyne 10m Jose Fonte 5m Jos Hooiveld 2m Maya Yoshida 5m Luke Shaw 15m Danny Fox 1m Jack Cork 7m Morgan Schneiderlin 10m James Ward-Prowse 10m Steve Davis 5m Jason Puncheon 3m Gaston Ramirez 20m Guly Do Prado 2m Adam Lallana 15m Rickie Lambert 9m Jay Rodriguez 11m
Agree with most of this. However I would value Rickie at 11mill and Jay at 9mill. And Morgan at 15 mill.
On reflection, I may have pitched a few of the players a little on the conservative side...Clyne, Fonte, Cork, Ramirez and Lallana would certainly be worth more to us. Another interesting one would be how much would we sell Billy Sharp and Dean Hammond considering their successful loan spells at Forest and Brighton respectively....I would be disappointed if we sold Billy for less than 5m and Deano must be worth at least 2m.
I've been pondering what the whole EPPP thing does to prices. It seems to me like clubs with Category 1 academies can acquire top youth talent very cheaply now by raiding any club without a Category 1. So IF someone were actually willing to stump 10-15m for Shaw or JWP or the other young-ish talent, it could make sense for a forward thinking club to sell knowing that they may soon be able to turn their academy into a factory and that the price of starlets could soon drop.
Not sure I would go along with that. The top prospects would be highly coveted so you'd still have to compete with other top clubs for their signatures. If we sold Shaw or Ward-Prowse, we probably wouldn't get equivalent replacements (or their suitors would look elsewhere as well).
Well I read the Forest deal for Sharp was 1 mil for the loan and another 2mil if they wanted to sign him on perm.
Yeah I've heard similar, would surprise me a little bit if it were true however. He's on loan presumably because we wanted the option of having him back. If we've agreed a fee already then we don't have that option.
5m for Sharp is a little too much as is 2m for Deano. I would say 2-2.5 for Billy and 0.5 to 2m for Deano. Remember the original question was based on what they are worth to us, not the market.
How can you price love? I automatically Saints players and am sorry to see any go. Left to me would have the main squad and about ten others merely kept as pets.
