we converted 5 of the 27 just the ****ing linesman didnt give the attackers the benefit of the doubt ... that's an 18.2 % conversion rate
MON just stated Sunderland had the better chances throughout the game. Not sure what game he was watching. We could of had about 8.
Good result, cracking performance and encouraging individual displays. Two 3-0 wins and a 4-0 in last four games too
Can I minus rep people who are talking about Come Dancing on Ice or whatever it is? The only dancing we need to discuss is Lovely Luis and his magic feet. He's ****ing poetry in motion 10.0 Good performance tonight and thank god. A big haul from the next few games is unlikely so 3 points tonight was vital not just for the table but also for confidence. It makes the Villa result even more perplexing because they are far worse than Sunderland. I was happy to see Wisdom back in and Johnson at left back rather than Downing and the back four played well overall. Lucas was the conductor again and I was surprised he was being allowed so much time to drop off and get the ball from Reina and defenders so often. Centre backs played well and Agger coming out of defence with the ball so often is vital to helping us move the ball over half way a lot quicker. Midfield was much better tonight with Lucas doing the usual donkey work well and Gerrard really finding his range short and long. He played a few balls that were just sublime and brought a smile to the face. Henderson had possibly his best game in a Red shirt and he was up for it from the kick off. Chased and harried very well but more importantly he used the ball very intelligently. He knew when to keep it moving quickly and when to hold it up. He got a standing ovation when he came off which tells you all you need to know. Up front we were much improved but we were undoubtedly helped by Sunderlands relatively high defensive line. It played into our hands every time we broke out of defence and we won't get things that easy in the next few games. Even so, we still have to stick those chances in the onion bag and that's what we did A good performance and a good 3 points.
Billy - the Villa game was frustrating but the same could have happened last night. Sunderland had a couple of great chances and on a 'normal day', we would have been punished for it. I felt that we got lucky yesterday (because of the missed chances and also Suarez's first goal went through the keepers legs) but we deserved that bit of luck. I'm not saying that we were lucky to win because we thoroughly deserved the 3 points but lucky in the sense that a majority of the half chances for both teams went in our favour. Up until our first goal, I thought we were pretty poor and didn't really get going. We then suddenly clicked and it was pretty much one way traffic. Anyways, that's the 'pessimistic' points made (I'm turning into MITO!) - let's concentrate on the good stuff! Henderson, Suarez and Gerrard were brilliant last night. Joy to watch. The passing, the pressing, the triangles were all on show last night and you can see things really shaping up now.
Anyone else think Lucas is nearly upto speed again? Dominated and was seemingly everywhere defensively, good performance.
We could have had a couple, you could have had a few more, no complaints about the result, thoroughly deserved. What was the craic with bricking a coach and dragging kids off though? Now I know it's highly unlikely to be anyone from this board, but what the ****! Whenever I've been down there we've been made welcome as ****, indeed we were one of the major supporters of the JFT96 campaign, this disappointed me way more than the inept performance, why the **** would anyone do that, it doesn't even happen at the Toon. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season, and didn't I predict that if Suarez had a game he'd mince us....
Only text messages and a video on an iPhone from my pal, I ain't seen any reports anywhere yet. Not trying to kick up a storm, as I say I've been down there maybe 8 times, similar Everton and always had a great day/night, hence this was a bit of a surprise/disappointment.
I can't find anything about it in our local press or the Merseyside Police site. If it did happen i apologize.
I don't know if this happened I certainly didn't see it but if it did then it's grim. Was it after the match because I was in The Arkles and saw/heard nothing. There's no animosity between us and yourselves as clubs and there was certainly no tension around the ground after the game.
It certainly did, as I've said I've seen footage on my mates phone, end of the day all clubs have their ****ers following, best just move on and leave it in reality. Was there any needle in the ground? As I've said, not usually a problem at all at your place.
I was in the Arkles meself. Walked down to Queens Drive(by the Mackies)afterwards and saw nothing, might have happened on the Lancs(Gilmoss/Kirkby), either way its a ****house trick and the **** that did it should be named and shamed.
