Tbh with you, I'm not convinced we'll get him. However, shifting through stories I've noticed that Graham Dorrans has been told he can leave West Brom, was excellent at this level a few years back and is still young. Also, Nigel Reo-Coker is nearly out of contract at Ipswich. Has a bit of an attitude problem and has been out of form but if we could work on him he'd be better than Trotter imo.

Hull is a small club, but there's no shame in it! Just over ten years ago you were fighting to stay in the league. No big or middle-sized club has ever done that. Times are as good as they have ever been in your history for you right now, recently in the top flight and fighting to do so again, whereas we are at the level right now we've been at nearly our whole history.

The reason I mentioned small club wasn't to insult (not that it is one anyway), but to point out that Nige prefers to raid the smaller clubs of there under-the-radar loaned and permanent talent (such as Drinkwater at Barnsley), rather than Premiership fringe players or enter bidding wars for Championship flavour-of-the-weeks such as Ince, Austin or Rhodes.

For anything over 2m I'd let you have trotter, we've got equal or better players out injured. Yeah he's good when he's up for the game but we could replace him easy with that money. He'd do you well in the championship for the next few years <cheers>

I don't think you've got it right but never mind!

What's the "biggest" club to ever lose their Football League status? Interesting pub quiz question.

We've spent most of our history in the second tier of English football, but as you're probably about twelve, I'll let you off for not knowing that. We certainly were **** around ten years ago, we fell on hard times at the bottom of the football pyramid, but we'd averaged crowds of 40-50,000 in the 50's and were a long way from being a small club.

We're now back where we belong, second in the second tier and looking good for promotion, I wonder how many other clubs would like to be as small as us at the moment.

Agreed, if he was consistent I would want to keep hold but with £2m+ we could get 4 decent players in easy.

Fair comment OLM but surely you go to bed of an evening wishing we'd won the Milk Cup a couple of times.

    I know I do.

I could then talk down to those who hadn't won the Worthington Cup two times.

I could go to bed knowing I supported a big club and not a small club.

Oooh ooh me Sir, me Sir I know...

Leeds United did 6 years ago. The status was given to a whole new club that adopted the liquidated clubs name and league position, but the club itself presented evidence to the Courts to show that they were a totally seperate entity to the former Leeds United AFC.

*cue Leeds fans telling us that once upon a time they went to Europe and won a trophy.*

What do you really dream of?

    Three seasons in the premiership?

Luton's a fair shout. Wasn't that long ago they were contesting cup finals. Grimsby obviously have spent a lot of time in the second tier, but not the top like Luton did. I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Portsmouth and Coventry one day following Luton into the Conference.
