Unlike Bent I think he can score regularly at a top club without the play having to be geared up to suit him. My problem with the idea of him coming to Spurs is that we only need back up for Ade and Defoe which I don't think he'd like and he also wants what it pretty much top money for us. That and he has a crap attitude, going on strike at Hoffenheim, we've been on the receiving end of players going on strike and I don't have any sympathy for a player throwing a hissy like that and breaking his contract.
Ba doesn't go to ACON as Senegal did not qualify. He will score ****loads anywhere, let alone a club with Chelsea's supply line, and for him too cost £5million less than Sturridge, even taking into account he is older, is bordering on hilarious.
Liverpool have spent £124,200,000 Sturridge, Allen, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Shelvey & Johnson. There simply is no value in the market for British players unless you sign up and coming teenagers from lesser clubs but then you are accused of poaching and ruining football. Arsenal and Chelsea realised this years ago but were castigated in the media for it. Nobody will tell me that with that £124m Liverpool couldn't have assembled a squad capable of at least challenging for the top 4. That's why I'm reluctant to hear any criticism from Liverpool or moreso Arsenal/Spurs fans about Chelsea and City's spending. Arsenal's spending isn't that much different to what it was when Wenger came only difference is A) they didn't anticipate City and Chelsea's rise to prominence and B) Instead of spending £10m on Henry they're spending £15m on Arshavin. Even barring inflation that is ridiculous.
Bar Torres, I don't think anyone's really had Chelsea's pants down. Mata - Stunning player Hazard - See above Oscar - Will become one of the worlds best, likely sold to Madrid for huge profit in 5 years Ramires - Slow start, developing into one of leagues best As you allude to, it's not what you spend, it's how you spend it. City, like Chelsea, have spent outrageous money, but again, only Kolarov has been a dud. Aguero, Yaya, Dzeko, Kompany etc, they are fabulous, world class talents. Even Balotelli will be sold at no loss, and he IS a great, great talent.
Carroll and Downing were big errors. Adam we got the majority back from Stoke. Henderson over priced, but a great engine and England U21 captain. Johnson, 18mil....expensive at the time, but has become a Liverpool great, absolute quality RB (excellent on the left too). Shelvey cost 1.7mil - 20 yrs old (bargain imo) Plus you forget 600K Liverpool paid for Sterling (massive bargain). Suso also was a free (massive future ahead of him) Also Enrique - 7mil (ish)..... Quality LB or LM/W. So yeah the Carroll and Downing (possibly Henderson) deals were ****e - but there has actually been some shrewd business. Selling Torres for 50mil being the best Sturridge for 12mil, is a pretty low risk transfer if you ask me. Suarez and Sturridge will be a right handful for any defence Liverpool still have a long way to go - but positive signs are there for the future for sure. A front 3 of Suarez-----Sturridge-----Sterling. Will do nicely for me! I know you were on about British players, but thought Id say my bit
At least Demba Ba will surely start for Chelsea after Torres performance tonight so that should help your dream team.
