We all think and know Tiote is a huge find and a fantastic asset to the club, and although some of the bigger clubs are sniffing around him. He is one of the players I'd expect to see in a Black and White shirt next season. I know he's just signed a new 6 year contract with improved wages, which I think the club has only done to put people off signing him. But in my backward way of thinking regarding his bookings, would it not be better to play him the last 2 matches of the season to try and get that top 10 finish we are pushing for and if he does pick up another booking to put him on 15. Would this not add to putting clubs off him if he won't be available for the forst 3 matches of the season?? I'd leave him in for the last couple of matches personally
i think regardless we should always put out our best 11 available for every game even if were safe. and if it means he gets booked and a team is put off and he stays its a huge bonus. we should be looking for 2 wins and without a player of tiote's quality we wont get them
Part of me says to risk him and try and push up the table. Without him in the squad, Chelsea will have a free for all in midfield as we'll have no 'enforcer' of a similar quality to break down their attacks but that next match, in all honesty, is not one I expect us to win. I'd play him against West Brom and try to get those 3 points.
Nope, I really don't like the sound of that. If anything will put clubs off him it'll be the fact he's going to the ACN, not that he has a 3 match ban - in the grand scheme of things (a multi-million pound, multi year deal) 3 games is nothing! Let's say we push, he gets another yellow against Chelsea (a game we lose anyway) but we manage to get 10th instead of 11th or 12th... Now lets say the first 3 games of the season are Manure away (obviously) then 2 VERY winnable games, which we lose due to a lack of strength in midfield and we finish a couple of points shy of Europe...How could we justify finishing 10th then?
If he get's booked against Chelski, would he be suspended for the West Brom game and only carry 2 matches over to the new season?
I'd rather go out with a fight than a wimper, we are already righting off the Chelski match off. We have shown we can go there and get results after our last couple of visits their, and they looked poor against Manure. I draw isn't out of our reach there. So I think we should leave Tiote in and go for it down their, they can't get the league any more.
I know what you're saying, and it would be great to end the season on a high, keep a level of excitement going into the summer and the hopeful flurry of transfer activity and let those who may be tempted away in big money moves (Enrique, Tiote, Barton) know exactly what they mean to the Toon Army... But I just can't shake the feeling that it could all come back and bite us in the arse...There is no clear target to aim for at the minute - the same might be not said next season when a single point could be the difference!
The synic in me says we have about a 1% chance of getting something at Chelsea given our recent away performances at Liverpool, Blackpool, Villa and Stoke so not worth it. We can beat West Brom without him judging by the way they played at Wolves on Sunday. Barton and Nolan in the middle with Jonas & R Taylor on the wings (with Fergie getting a run out in the second half).
You're right but knowing our luck, those two games will be Man U away and Chelsea at home or something daft.
We don't NEED Tiote. We have two rather good CM's in Nolan and Barton (if he's moved back in). Jonas is out on the left wing, so we'd just need someone to go on the right and we'd be set.
What he needs to do is if he does get booked against Chelski, in the 90th min get a second booking sent off and he will only get a 1 match ban and only miss the winnable WBA game
Praise the lord, we have a replacement http://www.nufcblog.com/2011/05/10/alan-smith-could-return-already-looking-very-fit/
