Now obviously we know we already have a source in the Kedwell camp via Hoadie, but what future does he have with the club. Following the Barnet and Sarfend games Kedwell has slipped further down the pecking order and seem to be behind Birchall these days. This coupled with the fact I have heard that Allen isn't keen on any of Hessy's previous signings signals the immenient departure of Keds, be it on loan of permenantly. However, I have also heard that Keds has been asked to improve his fitness (which fits with the whole Allen ethos) and still has a future at the club providing he proves himself on the fitness front. Two statements which seem to be at odds with each other. So have fans also heard either of the rumours adding validity to them, or have they heard something else?
Tired of the kedwell saga, looks permanantly unfit and overweight. Not mobile and doesnt score enough goals from open play. Should be sold.
I don't think he has any future at the club whilst MA is around. The correlation between team performance and goals scored with Kedwell in the team and poor performances and goal scarcity with him out of the team is abundantly clear but despite this MA will not pick him. Kedwell has three problems, firstly he is not a prolific goalscorer despite the high output of team goals when he plays, secondly he looks unfit even though he covers more ground in a match than anyone and thirdly he has not got "Ex-Brentford" stamped on his backside. It is a bit rich to criticise his fitness when you look at running done by the alternative. The amazing thing is that he was bought to partner Birchall with Kedwell making the bullets and Birchall firing them. Obviously the combination never got a chance last year and it has never been tried this year. So Kedwell has plenty to feel sore about and it would be no surprise at all to see him go out on loan to Wimbledon where he would be really appreciated. That might be in Gills interests as well with the right recall clause if injuries cropped up because he will lose fitness sat on the bench at Priestfield.
You can't say we have a source in the kedwell camp that is hoadie, because probably because of confidentiality he can't or won't say anything so its all conjecture and he might be best mates with Allen as far as we know
While I admire your passion Bristol, the fact is that Kedwell has not delivered as a goalscorer. His strike rate from open play is not good at all. Yes, his work rate is fantastic. But is he a player who can unlock a defence in a tight game, like Deon Burton did with his brilliant turn at Rotherham or the last-minute equaliser v Morecambe? I don't think he is, and that means his contribution to the team is limited. I have to say that if I was a new manager arriving at GFC (as Martin Allen was), I'd look at Danny and think "we can do better".
NO I am not able to say anything, you are right there but as soon as I am able to say something I will tell you.
Dont right Kedwell off yet. I am pretty sure he would of played against Northampton but the game was called off. Away from home Allen seems to favour Burton over Keds. We certainly missed Kedwell against Barnet.
Copied from the football rumours site 02 Jan 2013 21:49:40 Striker Danny Kedwell is now in talks with former club AFC Wimbledon and should complete his move in time for making his debut away at Rochdale this coming Saturday. It is also rumoured from good source that Kedwell has fallen out of favour with current Gills Manager Allen who has made no secret of his wish of bringing in more strikers to the club even with Kedwell at his disposal (2) (1)
I agree with Eager to be honest. Can't fault Kedwell for his commitment from a fans perspective but I do not think that he has genuine quality as a player or goal scorer. He certainly would not be good enough should we go up. That said I still think has a role to play and would not wish for him to go until a replacement comes in. I have a friend from Northampton who is convinced Akinfenwa is coming to us but I sense this is rumour based and lacks substance but guess we will know soon. I would welcome this to be honest as I think Burton and indeed Birchall would benefit from playing alongside a player who has an excellent ability to hold the ball up and find his team mates with some quality passes. Up the Gills
I am not going to read too much into that as it is just a website called 'Football Rumours'. Obviously myself and many other Dons fans would love this to happen but let's wait and see if anything becomes official.
