    I most certainly am!
Forget the 'Glorious 12th' being August and the start of the Grouse hunting season, let's bag a couple against the Canaries, <whistle>

<whistle> No hunting or baiting Badgers though.<badger><badger><badger><badger>

Am I right in thinking he will be cup tied for Europa League with Lille playing in CL?

    from NUFC.com

"If our understanding of the UEFA regulations is correct, Debuchy would be eligible to appear for Newcastle in this season's Europa League, despite previously playing for Lille in the Champions League:

18.18 For all matches from the start of the round of 32, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February 2013.

18.19 One player from the above quota of three who has been fielded in a UEFA club competition group stage match for another club in the current season may exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded: a) in the same competition for another club; or b) for another club that is currently in the same competition.

Lille won a two-legged Champions League playoff to advance through to the Champions League Group Stage. They then finished bottom of their group, meaning that they exited from the Champions League but failed to qualify for the Europa League. (Debuchy was red-carded against Valencia but has served the one match ban that he received)."

Not to come over all 'Mr. Tiote' but I'm not sure how much Debuchy will improve our team defensively. He's a great attacking FB, but he's probably not as good defensively as Simpson, he is better all-round, don't get me wrong, but I worry this signing papers over the rather large defensive cracks somewhat. With the 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 we're attempting to play at the minute, it is important that the holding midfielders cover the full backs as they push on - something Debuchy does a lot - what petrifies me is the sight of Cheick 'the man with no brain' Tiote fannying about as our last line of defence. His endless dawdling on the ball and inability to time a challenge will come under even more scrutiny with an attacking full back, and the worst thing is, he's the best we've got in that position. It doesn't fill me with confidence, as you can probably tell...

I rate Debuchy highly but I think we already have the answer at right back in our current squad, Santon. This is the ideal situation to get him over into his natural role, remove his problems with runners off the ball and get some balance. It'll aid both the attack and the defence. I understand why they're keen though as he is quality.

Sky sports now reporting that although Pardew has indicated NUFC have resurrected interest in Debuchy, any deal to bring him to the club is still someway off from being complete.

Still a good chance he will come, but does not seem like it's a done deal, as was being suggested in the media.
I really hope this is not another protracted non starter.

Quite right AB, was just wondering this morning why if it was a done deal as was being reported, Debuchy had not arrived on Tyneside for his medical etc.
Seemed like a genuine flurry of excitement and reports from all over, including Sky and the BBC to be fair, but then if you notice it's gone very quiet, that linked into Debuchy's recent comments regarding the January window and now Pardew pouring a little cold water on the fire, it's beginning to resemble GroundHog Day !
Still we need to remain optimistic, but not so sure today as l was yesterday.

As usual the media jump the gun. We went through all this in the summer.

Never believe anything until the player is unveiled on the club website with the shirt in his hands.

I've just come from the nufcblog and the **** being peddled on there from supposed ITK's is unreal. Apparantly Sakho's agents are in town lol...

I had a feeling this would be the case with Ba and Debuchy. They just make it up as they go along, I want that job.

David Craig (Sky) was reporting that Debuchy may be at tonights game, lets hope he doesn't see anything to put him off signing on the dotted line! :emoticon-0106-cryin
