He's clear favourite at the moment... http://www.thesackrace.com/news/2nd-january-2013/peter-taylor-in-frame-for-blackburn-rovers-job If they do appoint him, I'll be surprised if he lasts much more than a month.
I agree he is OK at lower levels, but when he steps up to higher divisions he just does have what it takes.
Would have thought Mark Hughes at 16/1 would be a good bet, wonder why Peter Taylor is bumped up in this betting
He'll probably get sacked after the first training session. I wonder if all this chopping and changing has unsettled the players at Blackburn? Jordan Rhodes?
The signing of Jordan Rhodes seemed like they thought they were guaranteed promotion, looks like he thought so as well.
There's plenty of rumours about Reading being in for him already, but he's already played for two clubs this season, so unless they can get special dispensation, I can't see how they can sign him.
And are Blackburn going to want to sell him for less then was it 8 they got him for? I expect him to be wanting to leave at the end of the season if this keeps up, he needs to be playing PL football as early on in his career as he can.
Like Beckford? Blew L1 apart, and jumped to the prem with Everton, he didnt exactly shine. No doubt JR has talent, but he needs a decent run at championship level first IMO. He would flourish in a top 6 side IMO. Not that anyone can afford him now!!
I mean at the end of the season, he's done well this season so far hasn't he? In a poor side. I thought Beckford was doing well at Everton, but Leicester made a big offer so he was let go and he obviously thought Leicester would go up that season, and now look at him. Silly silly boy.
Let's be honest, it's not the worst appointment they could have made. He did well at us, well at Palace... and just didnt do very well at Leicester with a bad Premiership team back then (even with Muzzy Izzet). Whether he'll fit the Blackburn team, I don't really know. But he's got the experience they want, so I say good luck to him. We're good enough to finish above them by a country mile.
He did well with Brighton and then us in taking both teams from League 2 to the Championship but then struggled at the higher level. Wasn't he more recently, also sacked by Stevenage when they were in the Conference?
That wasn't very recent, it was five years ago and he wasn't actually sacked, he was just on a six month contract that wasn't renewed. He's been manager of Wycome, Bradford and Bahrain since then. They did all sack him.
Blackburn Rovers manager, Peter Taylor. It just sounds right in a welcome to league one sort of way. I want this to happen.
He only took Brighton from L1 (then called Division 2) to the Championship. Mickey Adams I think it was that built the team there and got the first promotion.
PT was good for us, but hit a wall and is now yesterdays man. Blackburn could do worse than Sean O'Driscoll.
Ah, my mistake then. I still think that whilst they were decent achievements, both clubs were punching below their weight and had money, making the promotions 'as expected' rather than 'above expectations'. When managing at 2nd tier level, or smaller clubs in the lower leagues he's achieved nothing else that I'm aware of.
