Our average attendance was the highest London 2 years running before Roman came in and our away attendance is probably the same as what it was if not smaller. We were still selling out the big games (United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, West Ham) anyway it was the likes of Blackburn that we were getting around 36k for hence not selling out every game. But no shame in having lower attendances in the 80s/early 90s. It was a time of low economic prosperity and as a result attendances dropped across the board so no shame really. Dramatic increase in overseas fans/armchairs? yes undoubtedly Dramatic increase in matchgoing fanbase? No
Yeah, but this is our board... Could also say exactly the same about your board but I have no right to tell you lot what to post on there.
I completely agree... we have got a larger number of armchair fans recently but our machgoing supporters are brilliants. Sold out every home game and every away game apart from Sunderland (where we took 2800 instead of the 2900 allocated). Our away support is one of the best in England no doubt. Meanwhile Fulham take 400 to WBA ffs!
That is poor to be fair but Fulham are what they are. They are a family club that entice local fans and local people albeit tourists as well. I don't see why they should be expected to take thousands away like a Chelsea, Leeds, Liverpool or Man Utd would.
I dont do predictions, but common sense says Chelsea should win this! Unfortunately, common sense isnt part of football, so I'm going to pray and hope our boys work their butts off and give me good reason to open a bottle of the finest tomorrow for dinner!
I've been supporting my club since 98. Where will fans like you go when Fernandes leaves and invests more of his money in his climbing Formula 1 team? This means QPR may go bankrupt as they won't even be in PL. Your players lack desire, your fans have nothing but history and Roman slurs for us. Pre Roman era for us I remember us winning a couple of FA cups and a consistent top tier side... Where were QPR?...
We averaged 39,770 the season before Roman took over. Our crowds have only gone up 1.5k since Roman took over. Our global fan base has got a lot bigger. Our away support has stayed the same maybe got a touch smaller in a way. Before Roman took over we were the fifth highest supported team in the history of the football league and we remain so

Pre Roman era for us I remember us winning a couple of FA cups and a consistent top tier side... Where were QPR?... Like history shows us. We will be going to the Rangers like we did in Lge 1 when we average 16K gates. We were there when we had no team and people put money in buckets. We have real fans who go whatever division we are in. Question is would Chelsea only lose 2K off their average if they went 't#ts up'? I think not. You will be back to 16K gates. And before people throw in the 39K averages they need to check the 80's 90's?
Why are you concentrating on those 2 decades when we've been around for nearly 11? Tell you what, why don't we use the 30's,40's or even 50's as the benchmark of our support? Pr!ck
I don't think we would, in fact I'm certain we wouldn't simply because the type of football fan that attends matches these days. Back in the 80s only the working class man attended football. Nowadays you have women, kids, tourists etc. If Chelsea went down there would be an inevitable dip in attendance but that would be as much to do with ticket prices than anything else. When most clubs go down they try and charge PL prices to keep financially stable. Leeds do it, Wolves are doing it as are others. I despise the PL and everything it stands for and have always maintained that the Football League (Championship) is the best league England have despite Sky's propaganda and desire to make sure all other competitions bar the Premier League and Champions League are ignored.
Read it and weep bitches This is the game where Spurs fans are vindicated for their beliefs in Arry's superior managerial and tactical brain Chelsea 0 QPR 7 Arry's dog with a hattrick
TBH DL if QPR go down (which i think is pretty much a cert) the only thing i will miss is all the media that a Prem club gets. I had a much better time when we were in Lge1. I remember going to some northern game on a Tuesday night and taking 2000. The pubs/chat/travel was so much better than it is now. Don't get me wrong, yes i enjoy the Prem but if it were the Championship/Lge1/lge2 i would still be the same. On another note that Mata bloke is looking class at the moment, shame we didn't get him instead of that muppet Bosingwa.
Proper football at its best Ellers. Football is so much better when you can enjoy it. Whether its in the Premier League or Championship you'll enjoy next season so much more with a clean slate.
I started going to the bridge in 1968 and from the early seventies through to the late eighties went to every home and most away games and the our time in the old second div. was some of my most enjoyable.
This is the best London derby and if we're aren't up for it, then we'll never be up for another game this season.
