I think Liverpool will struggle to break Sunderland down and probably get caught out on the break a few times. Hoping for a Sunderland win :) but I actually think draw.

Think it was the fact he said we were poor and wouldn't get better anytime soon.

Bit pot and kettle don't you think <laugh>
We play for a point against the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal. Again no disrespect but Liverpool is a game now where most premier league teams will believe they can win, not 10 years ago mind, but definitely now.

Not really mate, we've been **** for a long time at home.

But in that time we've twatted sides and drew and lost after hitting the woodwork and having more possession etc than than our opponents.

    But whatever you say.

We were very poor the first 10-12 games or so this season and have recently picked up even though some of our star performers have been inconsistent such as Johnson and Sessegnon. Kilgallon is left footed and should be OK at left back, but we have Colback for that position and Gardner on the RB position - I think we'll see Bramble and Cuellar in the middle and with that our defence looks pretty solid. I'm more concerned about McLean and Larsson who have been shadows compared to last season.

    I think we'll see 4-4-1-1 and something;-

    Mignolet
    Gardner-Bramble-Cuellar-Rose
    Johnson-Larsson-Colback-McLean
    Sessegnon
    Fletcher

Key subs: Cambell and Wickham in for Larsson or McLean, with Kilgallon providing cover at the back in case of injury.

I fancy Sunderland to win this, purely on the basis that we've had one more day to recover and during this congested seasonal spell the difference between 3 days and 4 days is significant.

Feel bad for Wisdom - was performing very well IMO and was forced out due to injury.

I would much rather see Wisdom RB, Johnson LB and Enrique LW as the natural first choice.

Sunderland fan James Hunt provides the opposition view of Wednesday's game at Anfield.
    -How's your season going?
Awfully, wonderfully, average. That is to say, a bit of all three. It started okay, with draws against Arsenal and yourselves. But then we kept drawing, and started losing, and did no winning. Come the end of November things were looking pretty bleak indeed, with a win over Fulham the only real highlight. Now, however, we seem to have turned a corner: beating Reading and Southampton convincingly, then crowning it all with the Boxing Day victory over Man City (a 1-0 victory over them at the SoL now comes as standard). So, going back to the opening sentence, it has been awful, wonderful, and thus, ultimately, average.
Anyone at Sunderland need to make any New Year's resolutions?Lee Cattermole to stop getting injured/suspended, as when he's on the pitch he's a bloody big player for us; Danny Rose to 'resolve' to tell Spurs he wants to stay on Wearside permanently; James McClean to practice kicking a ball with his right foot; and Wes Brown to just kick a ball, full stop.
    One hope for 2013?
To take our recent form and sustain it over a period of time, pushing for the top 10 and stopping the horrendous winless runs that seem to blight every season. To sign a creative central midfielder would be nice too. That all counts as one, right?
    Best way to beat Sunderland?
Win the midfield battle - admittedly not too difficult at the moment - and get at our defenders with pace.
    Who makes you tick?
Stephane Sessegnon and Adam Johnson. They're easily our most creative players, the two most likely to make something happen, and you'll find most of our dangerous attacks going through one, if not both of them.
Which three Liverpool players do you rate the most?
Luis Suarez, obviously. On top form he's a joy to watch. He's upped his game this season, adding goals on a regular basis, and is easily the biggest threat you carry. I'll also say two defenders: Daniel Agger, for me one of the best and most consistent in the league, and Glen Johnson - who has finally started putting an end to any talk of being a right winger in disguise with some excellent defensive work.
    Song we're likely to hear?
A particular favourite this season has been 'He's our 'keeper...' about Simon Mignolet, to the tune of A Lion Sleeps Tonight. It's something different, brilliantly original and you're likely to hear it as we've needed him to come to our rescue so many times this season.
    Prediction?
    1-1

I think LFC will struggle as much of our game depends on advanced full backs.

I think sunderland SHOULD push johnson and mcclean onto our full backs and pack the middle as well. If they do this suarez will live on scraps as gerrard won't work hard enough to prevent the midfield being over run.

If downing plays LB i think we will be hard pressed all day... its a total mismatch between him and adam johnson.

Overall i think anfield has been too quiet and the away day support is better for the team. we need to fix our home form and i think everyone has to do it. anfield is so quiet compared to say when utd arrive in town..... I see our game v stoke and listen to thier great home crowd and have to wonder what the F.

anyway.... i thin kthe pattern of the game will be decided on the wings...

Think them and Villa are going to face the drop this season. Both teams need to go down to sort there club out as it's in all sorts at the moment.

With our tough fixtures coming up, the team and manager know it's a must win as we could lose the next 3 out of 4 premier league games.

    3-0 Liverpool.

Read through the whole thread, read a load of fair comments, then came to this one.

On what level are we 'in all sorts'.

We had a **** start, won 3 of the last 5 including City, lost to 2 of the top 4.

We have a multi-billionaire owner, who backs the club, we have a £20million a year sponsor for 3 years, and an £8million kit deal.

We have one of the best academies in the land , and a superb stadium, we average around 40k despite decades without a trophy.

We have probably the best keeper in the league on current form, we have Sessegnon & Johnson finding form, we have Fletcher up top on 8 in 16.

Believe me lad, we are far from in a mess as a club, we just had a **** start to the season, your comment is laughable in the extreme, I wonder if ou actually know anything about football whatsoever, a bad un of form can happen to any club, like a club with 18 titles going decades without a title.

Re the match, I'd fancy 1-1, but if Suarez is on it, we will probably lose, as the lad is immense.

Think both teams to score is a good bet, I know you like to put everyone forward for corners so can see us catching you on the break for 1.

I can't see us getting more than 1 though, hence I see a draw at best.

  18. We don't push everyone forward, it's the **** we leave behind to mop up that's the problem <laugh>

    Ha ha.

Fair mind, what I meant was you send the CB's up, I think from that if we can get the ball out to Sess or AJ from a corner for you we can catch you on the hop.

Like I keep saying, no team on earth can live with Suarez if he's on song, so I'm kinda hoping he had a dodgy pie or whatever yesterday.

I would put my money on a 1-1 draw with the usual suspects: Suarez in first half n' Fletcher in the second :emoticon-0111-blush
    good luck to both teams
