I think if Guly hadn't even tried to clear 'that' cross he would have been crucified. Felt sorry for the lad when it went in. Both him and Steve Davis were superb today I thought.
People around me were giving it the normal "Don't pass it to ****ing Guly, he's ****ing ****! For ****'s sake, why is he a ****ing football player, he's ****ing awful." act most times he touched the ball. Prats.
The normal guy who sits behind me wasn't there today which made for a much more pleasant experience. Guly got a good reception, probably making everyone who gives him stick feel a bit silly (they'll carry on though).
Probably not.......................and Guly's boot was a fraction of an inch away from being a match winning defensive block. He's gonna be golden once he gets his confidence back.
I am expecting Guly to start on Saturday on the back of 2 very good performances from him. I was actually more inclined to blame Boruc for the goal for lack of communication.
I think the important thing is having a hungry Guly. I think too often last season he had very little competition for his place so his form was inconsistent. Now he has serious competition he seems to be working his socks off which makes him a very useful player. Also, I'm always surprised by how quick he is, certainly one of the quickest in our side!
Yeah, Guly had another good game today. And if Punch hadn't given away the Free kick in a dangerous place, then Guly wouldn't have had to defend it...
Harsh to criticise Puncheon. I thought he had an absolute blinder today, and he tracked back really well. As an attacking player he is always going to struggle a little defensively.
I dunno about Punch today. Wasn't in the game at all first half, improved second half but still disappointed with his final product - couple of good chances hit straight to the keeper.
I agree with this. He was missing for the first hour and then got a little better in last half an hour. Guly - immense today. Worked hard, won tackle that lead to our goal; just got home so not seen his "goal" yet.
I wasn't expecting Punch to be as good today with Cork at RB. Cork did not look comfortable overlapping and it's understandable as he's not a RB. Clyne and Punch have formed a fantastic link on the right and really play well together.
I was just gonna mention exactly the same thing about Cork defensively. Positioning was sublime, didn't look unconvincing at all defensively.
Oh he was a vast improvement on his last outing at RB, against Notts Forest last season at home. He was very good today.
Cork has played in that position for the u21s, but was not convincing when we had to use him there in a game last season/league 1 (?). Great today but then has been great since he came back from injury. Invaluable.
