Arsenal don't appear to be laughing at us anymore!

  1. Why are you laughing, PESKIE? There is absolutely no contradiction in those two statements of mine that you quoted. The power has been shifting for some time - that is patently obvious to even the most casual of observers.

You're so desperate for glory that you are about to give a £100,000 per week contract to a headless chicken. Sure, he had a great game today, against a side that has hit the self-destruct button and seems to have a penchant for schoolboy defending, but he'll come unstuck against the better side, as he always does.

  5. No hook, no wriggling, just the subtle scuffling of power slowing shifting.

or to put it more accurately. Currently you are ahead of them in the league. But the form guide for a decade will have you finishing below them by 38 games <ok>

The law of averages might come in to play this year though <laugh> They've topped you last 10 years so the law of averages has you lot finishing above them at least once a decade <laugh> Maybe...

Unlike your mob we don't live by the mantra, "Next year's our year", BBF.
The past doesn't foretell the future, though. You used to finish above us regularly and that was given as a reason why we'd never overtake you. Didn't work out like that.

I think we have to actually expect. We don't so the above falls short in the comeback stakes.

The only time in the past decade when we actually had title aspirations was after just 2008/2009 and at the start of 2009/2010. And Rightly so.

  12. Well, Arsenal have started their anticipated bottle-job early this season with a lucky draw at Saints. The shift has started in earnest already.

How about this for a great bit of biased reporting by the BBC:-

    "GREAT SAVE!
What a chance for the Saints. Jason Puncheon is allowed to beat Kieran Gibbs far too easily in the right channel, he works the ball on to his right foot but shoots straight at Wojciech Szczesny in the Gunners net."
    (Source: BBC Football live reporting)

So, not really a great save by the Arsenal keeper, more a poor finish by Saints. Either side of the keeper and that would have been 2-1 to Saints.

I suspect the chuckles will be even fewer from the Gooners, after today <ok>

Look who it is. Seriously, who ever hired you to comment on everything HIAG says, I'm overruling them and you are hereby relieved of your duties.

We know HIAG likes to be positive about Spurs and negative about Arsenal, it's not worth pointing out. If you want you can point out how we're 3rd and you're 5th, you thought it was a big deal earlier in this thread when it was the otherway around.

  17. The refreshing thing was that Dembele and Sigi both played really well, today, as did the rest of the team. Was it 30 shots at goal? Something like that. We certainly deserved to win, and without our "one-man team" Bale.

Don't be too hard on PESKIE, lads. He's hurting. When a man prods a stick at a wounded dog, he's got to expect the hound to take a bite. That puppy has been wound up all through this thread, and even more so after today's results, because he would have been expecting an easy Arsenal win, in order to continue laughing at us. It didn't happen, and once again it is no longer in Arsenal's own hands whether they finish above us, this season. We've got the easier run of games in January, and if the form-book is followed to the letter, we should find ourselves a few more points clear of Arsenal before we hit the final third of the season.

As I say, go easy on him, lads. That wounded mutt is going to be prodded a fair few more times before the season ends.

Given you have City and Chelsea coming up (to get us 11points ahead if we win our games), maybe we'll get 15-20 points ahead by Feb to make sure?

You've got Man Utd at home though, a fixture you never win (traditionally).

I think there will be plenty of points dropped between the sides although I agree I think it's unlikely Arsenal will win this calendar month
