Hope we play the reserves against Peterborough and Hughton takes the team away for 10 days and works with them with no interference. Get them back to being hard to beat and ready to go!
In that second half we looked so much like we did during our unbeaten run. We contained West Ham built a perimeter around them and pressed up the pitch, the first half was complete and utter **** in comparison not helped by an incompetent Referee, but we didn't help ourselves. Two forwards in this window and a central midfielder who is defensive but can pass.
If we hadn't missed 5 great chances then I might agree that you "should have won". The fact is the penalty might have been debatable but far from certain either way. We were much better than you all over despite missing 5 first teamers. Bad luck.
And the worst thing is because poor Mr Clattenberg has been falsely accused of racism (or at least the other officials closed ranks and there was no proof that he said the things he was accused of saying) the FA will go out of their way to support him and give him more Premier games.
What about the 5 first teamers we were missing? Well done on the win, we were poor, but it's hard to play against 12 men
The one that was given. Your one was probably a pen. We had a perfectly good goal ruled out against man city that would have won us the game. We all get **** decisions. You didn't lose today because of the referee. You lost because we outplayed you and in fairness 4-0 wouldn't have flattered us.
if ours should have been a penalty then 4-0 would have flattered you. It would have to be at least 4-1, no?
Is this intended as a WUM post? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume not in which case; if the first penalty is given then the referee has to give the handball to, and assume we score then it's 2 - 1 at HT, your second goal irks me, but it is still fair as you have the right to play on. Then if we get our stonewall penalty and your man sent off for professional foul, then if we score it's 2 - 2. Add in our actual and we win 3 - 2. Appreciate that the match wouldn't play out like this with the ifs, buts and maybes but that is how I see it, and also playing with ten men would make it even more difficult for you. And missing five first teamers? We were starting Harry Kane, so majorally short in the ST department, had one of our first choice CM missing through suspension, both our first choice full-backs missing and our best player and goalkeeper missing too. I'm fairly sure having Holt, Johnson, Whittaker, Garrido and Ruddy out is a bigger miss than your players.
No. Just correcting you. Referee decisions can go either way. In another game you will get the rub of the green. I can think of a fair few that have gone against this season off the top of my head. You are using the referee to cover up the fact that you were well beaten by a better side on the day. You were very lucky we weren't out of site by half time and by the 75 minute mark it could easily have been 5. I beg to differ regarding the injured players. Collins, McCartney, Diame, Nolan(our top scorer and captain) and Carrol are a bigger miss but It didn't really matter in the end did it?
The thing that irks me more than anything else is this, we can all see that the referee had a shocker, we were watching the game and are able to make that decision ourselves, we don't need anybody to point it out to us, it's there, plain for all to see, right? The minute our manager points this out as a major factor in our losing the game, he is charged by the FA with bringing the game into disrepute! Excuse me, but it's the referee bringing the game into disrepute with his poor decisions!
