FT, great point that, always hate playing Blackpool and it sounded like the pitch was a real issue. Another game where Simpson doesn't score, his form has really dropped off and that's a worry. Gap between us and Cardiff is now 7 points and Palace are 2 behind us, but at this stage of the season it's just good to be picking up away points.
What do we have to do to get a penalty? We've had the least penalties in the league, so frustrating. Good point but slightly disappointing as it sounds like we edged it and had the clearer opportunities. Simpson needs heading coaching ASAP.
Maybe, but he's spurning chances that most other strikers would be sticking away. His confidence is clearly low, so he needs to get a goal and sort himself out.
Danny Graham scored again for Swansea in injury time. Further reduces our chances of signing him, I'd have thought.
Bollocks. We missed more than one good chance to score. Sure, it's a third straight clean sheet, but we've also failed to score in two of those games (missing brilliant chances in both) and won the other by just two goals when it should have been half-a-dozen. I know it's unfair to say that we're ****, but when it comes to the most important part of the game - putting the ball in the back of the net - we really are.
Just spoken to No.1 daughter at the game, she said it was ****e, the highlight was almost 1500 City singing Happy Birthday to Brucey, which pretty much says it all.
It's the same every year, if it was different teams every season it would make sense but we always have this debate about having no penalties. Leeds have had twice as many penalties outside the area this season than we have had in total since last April. It's a ****ing joke how hard it is for us to get a penalty, in situations like the two against Leeds where it's debatable you can see the ref doesn't want to give it unless he's absolutely certain. Whereas at ER when Diouf won the one outside the box he couldn't ****ing wait, there was no hesitation like we see with our attackers.
Firstly, you're assuming we'll try to sign somebody. Bruce could stick with Simpson and the other donkey, Proschwitz. The less said about our only other fit striker, McLean, the better Secondly, you're forgetting that our ineptitude as a goalscoring force has left us far behind the other teams in terms of goal difference, as well as costing us numerous points. Leicester have hit both Ipswich and Huddersfield for six this season. We should have done the same to both of those sides, as well as Peterborough, Leeds, Millwall and Barnsley. We should have beaten Palace, and had at least two more at Bristol City. I saw that Bruce had 'chided' our players for showboating with twenty minutes left against Leeds. What kind of team does that after 70 minutes when it's 2-0?! That's ****ing disgraceful, especially when you have such a poor goal difference. People keep saying 'we need a striker'. No, we need two or three. Simpson, Proschwitz and McLean aren't good enough even for the bench.
I didn't think the Aluko one against Leeds was debatable and after seeing the one on Meyler, that was a definite penalty, you can see the Leeds defender pulling him back by holding onto his shorts.
See my comment on the other thread, Milwall want McLean and he's our 5th choice so either they are truly ****ing awful up front or it's not as simple as 'the strikers aren't good enough'.
