Happy New Year everyone and lets hope it starts with 3pts today in another tough away game, According the the HDM City have put in a 1.5 million bid for David Myler, lets hope we get him
It's Meyler and I wouldn't be surprised. We need to off load the likes of David Meyler, Frazier Campbell, David Vaughan, Bramble and Mohammady who are all good lads and good footballers but not good enough for top half EPL. All would be fantastic signings for Hull and might be the difference between play offs and top 2 and all are Bruce signings so if knows them well. With £60m the prize for promotion, it would be worth the investment and all those lads deserve regular games.
We'll have Meyler and Elmo but we don't really want the rest, maybe Campbell but if it was up to me he wouldn't be here either!
Yeah, but the paper always seems to overdo the amounts, like with Proschwitz. Hopefully, it won't be much past 500k, although its hard to tell what his value is.
Would be good. I think that if City could consolidate the loans and secure permanenet deals for Meyler, Elmohamady, Brady and Stockdale then we would have an excellent squad regardless of the apparent lack of an out and out goal scorer. Incidentally, I wouldn't automatically assume that Stockdale would come in as the automatic first choice over Jakupovic - he does give me kittens at times but I suspect that he might be an extremely effective keeper in much the same way as Tomasewski was for Poland in the late 70s and early 80s.
its the cost of the whole deal that counts, not merely the transfer fee. A 3 year deal at, say, £20k per week adds another 3 million to that figure, excluding agents fees etc. Now that's serious money and equal(ish) to our Premiership 'greats', ie Kilbane, McShane, et al.
I do hope we're not offering anyone £20k per week while we're in the Championship - that's silly money and you can't balance the books handing out deals like that. It's bad enough that we're still saddled with some of the Premier contracts.
Sunlan fans think he's gone: http://www.rokerreport.com/2013/1/1/3824010/reports-midfielder-to-be-the-first-out-the-door?
Offering a larger deal is only a massive problem if the players not worth it, we just couldn't shift certain players on but if we sign someone who is worth the wage then we should be able to move them on if need be.
The problem we had in the Premier League was that we signed players who had very little sell on value, something we haven't really done so far. I think Meyler is worth purchasing, but i would rather we didn't go and splash our whole budget out on him.
I think £1.5m for a midfielder of Meylers class is really good value. The fact he's got a goal scoring record that will be the envy of his current team mates is a bonus!!
Since he has been here the midfield has looked complete. I'm sure he brings the very best out of Cory Evans. He is the first midfielder we've had for an age who is capable of making significant contributions in the oppo penalty area.
the box to box midfielder weve been missing. he's at a good age and will only get better. 1.5m is a good price looking around what other players with his style and in his position would we get for that?
Yes,if he scores goals at his current rate and we gain promotion,he will have paid back his £1.5m in just a few months.
The problem that we had in the Premier league was the fools that were writing up these ridiculous contracts; ie Bullard, Oily Vagina 28k FFS etc.etc.
Would be a brilliant signing. In some ways we get an additional bonus with a potential buy, considering how he seems to drag out the best from Evans, etc.
