just been on a crystal palace forum and one of them reckons zaha to arsenal is done with COQUELIN going there on loan which strikes me as odd though it may suggest we are getting a dm. I feel we will end up getting zaha, lopez and a dm. Would've loved isco but tbh i think hes off to man city, thats at least what they feel in any case.

also a bit of a vague one but a reading fan on twitter believes eisfeld is joining reading on loan for the rest of the season.

With Rosicky back in action and Diaby returning, with the possibility of a midfield signing, i think Coq and Eisfeld are better off going out on loan to get first team football. Both will benefit from playing regularly and i think Eisfeld would play very often for reading. Could get him ready to try and break into the first team next season?

Lopez makes sense because he can play on the wing. I think Zaha is a complete red herring unless Wenger is going to convert him into a full back, or he is one for the distant future.

I still think that a midfielder as back up to Arteta or a full back are the most likely.

Really like the idea of Eisfled going on loan to another PL club. He needs it and I would not be that surprised if someone like Reading were interested in him, I thought he did really well when he came on as a sub against them in THAT game in the COC.

Expected Song to not do well. Busquets is the best in that role and he never gets injured. But thought Modric would do a lot better, if it does not work out for him, I would love for us to get him. That would annoy the Spurs fans and we get a brilliant player for probably half the price he was sold to Madrid.

I'm sick of Wenger buying young, small, nimble wingers. Teams that win trophies have a strong core through the middle of the pitch: GK, CB, CM, CF.

    It's always been this way:

    Cech, Terry, Lampard, Drogba.
Van Der Sar, Vidic, Scholes, Rooney
    Hart, Kompany, Toure, Aguero.

    ....

    Seaman, Adams, Vieira, Henry.

It hardly matters who the wingers and full backs are, and yet for the past 7 years, it seems to be all we've focused on.

Our LB (Clichy) cost us the title in the 07/08 season. We do need to improve in the middle but in other positions too.

As a season ticket holder at St. Mary's, I am not at all surprised that Arsenal have targeted Luke Shaw. He looked quite good during the friendly I saw during the pre-season but not quite ready for a first team place. The poor performances by Danny Fox eventually saw Shaw given his chance and he has got better and better after every game to the extent that he is probably our best player this season after the likes of Lallana, Ramirez, Cork and
    Puncheon.

Shaw's reputation amongst Saints fans has almost been akin to Walcott's insofar that he had a reputation as being quality even before anyone had seen him. There were reports of his being monitored by some of the bigger European clubs as well as Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea. The performances he has out in so far suggest that the potential is there but whether he will be as good as Bale remains to be seen seeing as he is still only 17. Personally, I think it would be a shame if we sold him yet I cannot see us keeping him because he is clearly something very special.

With regard to the stupid comment about Wenger by wingers, Shaw is a left back who does get forward yet no manager worth his salt these days would want a player in this position who does not have an attacking edge. Wenger's failure has more to do with the rest of the game catching up with his approach which was revolutionary when he first joined you. The inability to spend significant money has also hindered you chances of matching the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea yet Shaw is out of contract in January and has not signed an extension yet as far as I believe. I think this has something to do with his age - the local newspaper reported this fact about 6 weeks ago and expressed surprise that Saints were sticking to club policy in offering full contracts as opposed to bringing forward the negotiations. Granted that you will face competition from the bigger clubs in the PL but I don't think the club that is ultimately successful will play top dollar and if a move is made for Shaw this month (as I understand both Chelsea and Arsenal have started the ball rolling) , he will go for far less than he is actually worth. If Saints can convince him to sign a contract this month, Shaw will probably go for more than Wenger will be allowed to spend at some later point.

    Cheers

    Ian

Absolutely. People seem to think football is different from all other contact sports but it is'nt.

Size and athletiscm can still be a big advantage.
