superman. Quite interesting about shinning it not counting. We all know about heading the ball back, or chesting it back, but I hadn't previously realised that the foot is the only part of the lower leg that matters in this instance.
my mind was sketchy i must admit! when it happened i immediately thought 'ooh, we've got away with that one' and there was quite a big protest from the citeh players. we can only assume the ref didn't see the incident clearly and therefore couldn't give it but he got it wrong. it should have been an indirect free kick. i remember one we didn't get last season so swings and roundabouts i suppose...
Mancini is fighting to keep his job i would guess, so anything that happens has to be someone elses fault. any player stupid enough to pretend to headbutt another player deserves a red card, and as the rules stand was rightly carded. Bassong could easily have gone as well although he kept motionless, but the ref could have thought otherwise.
I just don't get Hanson saying 'he felt contact therefore he has the right to go down' In my book, there has to be sufficient contact to knock you over before you go down, otherwise it is simply cheating to win a free kick or get your opponent booked. Gareth Bale has made a rod for his own back by consistently going down after the merest of taps from opponents. If the referees have it in mind that he constantly dives, he will by definition, always be booked for it.
I'm glad it happened to Nasri, I remember at Eastlands they had some tunnel camera, a mascot aged about six went to go shake his hand and practically told him to do one. After the sending one off my Arsenal supporting mates said how Nasri looks like a lesbian, quite a good call that.
I'd like to see referees doing some "reality" training in which they have to run at full speed towards and past an instructor, who nudges them, or just lightly clips their heels or brushes their leg as they go by. We would then see how easy they find it to "stay on their feet"!
There's nothing wrong with looking like a lesbian. There is, however, a lot wrong with looking like Nasri.
If it's true that they're not going to appeal, that proves they realise the red was justified - at least in the sense that there is no chance of it getting overturned. Comments like Mancini's annoy me, because they are the thing that gets reported and then the mud sticks. Just like Warnock's lie about Bradley Johnson 'going down' in the QPR game last year. Johnson didn't go down, but everyone bar a few now believes that he did. Actually, Mancini annoys me period. I know this is trivial and totally irrational, but there is something about his hair and his tan and his scarf that makes me want to vomit over him.
Mancini and Alex Ferguson are very good at being ****ing annoying. But then again so are most 'big team' managers!
He annoys some of the man city fans as well to be honest We get a little tired of him blaming everything on someone else when something's gone wrong,it's always someone else's fault. Its very tedious and makes him look shallow Nasri was an idiot for retaliating and can't complain about his red card That should've been end of story and move on
For what it is worth, I agree with Superman. Sitting in the lower Barclay, it was obvious to us that Garrido back passed it and immediately put Bunn in a position where he had no choice but to palm it over the bar. I turned to the fella next to me and said we got away with that one. What I wanted to know was where the free kick would take place? Would it have been placed literally on the goal line or would it have been brought back to the six yard box? Can you imagine the scramble if it was placed on the goal line?
The free kick is taken from where the offence is committed, i.e. the goalkeeper's position when he handles the ball (see my earlier post). 4.09 AM? I take it you were still celebrating Chris, not just getting up!
The back pass law along with the off side law both need looking at. To create a situation where a free kick would be awarded on the goal line is stupid. How could a ref officiate this? Absolute bonkers. As for the off side law cop out "not interfeering with play".WTF is that about? As Shankly said "If you are on the field you must be interfeering with play". Revert back to the old off side law.Easy to understand and no grey areas.
Unfortunately I was doing neither Robbie... My 8 month old was incredibly poorly last night so I spent most of the night up with him. This is one of the many joys of parenthood I am discovering. I took him to the walk in clinic this morning to find out he has got asthma. I had to go to Tesco to pick up the prescription the doctor gave and I am booking next year's New Year's Day to my my shopping there. The little fella nodded off as we approached the pharmacy section, not surprisingly as he had been awake for pretty much two days solid, so the missus and I whizzed around the store. I have seen it busier in the middle of the night when they are stacking shelves compared to how it was this morning!!! Damn wife's gene pool!!! I need another catnap before the match starts!!!
