With some more news coming out about Ferrari's 2013 car, it's time to start a new thread so we can have every bit of news/rumours/speculation all in one place. Some news:

    Other bits of information:
    • OmniCorse report the new car will be unveiled sometime between the 30th of January and the 2nd of February, with the shakedown on the 2nd of February.
    • Jose Luis revealed last week that Ferrari were designing a Red Bull-style exhaust for the 2013 car, and the car would have changes to the internal aerodynamics, sidepods and radiators.
    • I'm not sure Fry confirmed this or whether it's just a rumour but Ferrari will retain the pull rod front suspension. It's also been rumoured that McLaren and Lotus will copy it.

I would give rep but sadly I cant. Cheers for this Forza was a good read.

Maybe I should do the same for the WO4? Be good if a few people would dedicate each cars upgrades, rumors all season etc... we could really bring in a few new members "tech wise" in this direction to expand on members.

I think last year the threads went up when the new cars were launched, but I can't see too much wrong with starting them off as a speculation thread, although I suppose 11 threads could take a lot of space up.

That could work DHC, might have to sub title each post like above though.

Also don't think we need 11 seperate posts, only about 5-6 (RBR, Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus, Mercedes, Sauber)

According to Giorgio Piola in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari will retain 90% of the changes introduced in the 2012 car. The article also talks about copying Red Bull's rear suspension. I can't be bothered translating the whole thing.

Its good ferrari are sticking with the 2012 base for the car. 2012 was a building up year in my eyes and were lucky to get a good title run and 2nd in the WCC. 2013 wont have those early niggles and will be something to behold. Watch out for Ferrari!!

Ferrari have confirmed they will only be using Toyota's wind tunnel to develop the 2013 car, while La Gazzetta says that the car has passed the first crash test:

Are Red Bull paying Ferrari for all advertising they're getting? I reckon there's more mention of Red Bull and Adrian Newey in these articles than Ferrari. Even Mercedes, Toyota and Ross Brawn are mentioned, is anything actually designed in Maranello these days?

The new car has passed the crash test.

    Will Garside:
"The 2013 Ferrari has passed FIA crash tests. Ferrari have added extra driver head area for safety for next years car due to Spa incident."

I've heard that because RB put so much effort into developing the rb8 at the end of this season that development of the rb9 is behind schedule, of course newey can make it up but hopefully at the start of the year Alonso can get an advantage over Vettel and be able to hold it providing the RB doesn't get too dominant. If Alonso was only three points off this years title starting terribly then starting well must mean that without too much bad luck he can claim the title that he deserves.

Well when you are ahead then being behind in the next development is no big deal really as everybody else is playing catch up on the last car. The only bad thing that could happen are reliability niggles.

Welcome to the forum by the way <ok>

I don't think the RB9 is that "far" behind like they try to make out since they were testing different passive DRS systems and suspensions at Abu Dhabi. They're probably a few weeks (3-4) behind McLaren who this season nailed the new blown diffuser style, rotary wings, body, wing shapes etc... all ahead of RBR last year and were also fighting for the titles.

IRBR won't rush it though, not to the degree of McLaren sometimes do at the British GP and so it backfires and making them back runners overnight.
