Ah give the man a chance, there's a high chance he will equal Henry's return in his first season which was 26 goals and 11 assists. After all, Giroud already has 11 goals and 9 assists at the halfway point, and he's still finding his feet. If Giroud's return for the first season is 22 goals and 18 assists nobody has any right whatsoever to call him a flop.

    Selling him would be madness.

I am giving him a chance. I just don't think he's technically good enough or predatory enough to be TOP level striker.

Even when Henry and Berkamp were not scoring you could still see they were technically very gifted.

    Giroud isn't. He's a good player though.

He Isn't a Bergkamp or a Henry type. He is a big strong striker, probably looking to be more of a Drogba than either of the two you mentioned, although he is better with his head and his feet than Drogba ever was.

Even if Giroud does not become the top forward that we want him to become, we should still keep him. Look at the likes of United and City, they all have a collection of three to four forwards. Giroud should be a parts of ours that hopefully we can build in the near future, once we get rid of the likes of Chamakh,Bendtner and Park.

    Dont be absurd.

Drogba is one of the finest strikers in EPL history.

    This I agree with 100%.

I dont think he'll ever be TOP Class (because I dont think he has the ability) but I still think he's a quality player to have in the team and Im glad we bought him. 15 -20 Goals a Season is what I would expect from him.

I'm still hoping Wenger brings in someone of Llorente/Benzema/Cavani's quality. *Unlikley as that might be.

Why? Surely no more absurd than trying to suggest he plays in the style of Henry or Bergkamp?

You're deluded mate. Drogba was an absolute machine, and one of the best to grace the BPL. Even comparing him to Giroud is wrong, Giroud will never be in the same league as Drogba.

I'm comfortable with our attacking options, where we are very weak is at full back - Gibbs/Jenkinson don't look up to the required level and Sagna looks distracted.
TV is under performing and Kos is not as dominant as he was last year.
If we bought 3 top quality players and they were all defenders I wouldn't be upset, but I don't see AW buying 3 players at all and I'm not sure he believes in defence any more, if we played Man Utd right now the game could end up 10-10 !

Yes they do. Gibbs had a poor game and he's suddenly no able? Jenkinson has been good all season and I still think he was unfairly replaced by Sagna (who has lost that yard of pace-but is still quality)
TV started poorly but he's improved and Kos is getting back to his best form.

We'll have to agree to disagree - I just have the view that any team with just 6 clean sheets in 26 and conceding 10 in our last 5 lge games at home, has defensive issues that I struggle to defend

That is my point, comparing him to Henry and Bergkamp is wrong too. As for Drogba, when he was Giroud's age, he hadn't graced the BPL yet.

Giroud is 26, Drogba joined Chelsea at 26 and helped them to the title that year.

Giroud is not and never will be as good as Drogba (imo)

I thought I would add that todays performance by Giroud reinforced my belief he is just not good enough for us. He had a couple of chances he should of buried.

    OK, new revised plan.

    1. Sign David Villa
    2. Sign a LB
    3. Urgently get Moussa Sissoko

The fact Wenger has allowed Chamakh to bugger off means he's probably got a striker coming in. I'm 95% certain it's Adrian Lopez.

Villa is coming back from a broken leg and from what I hear its had as bad an effect as Ramseys had on him, only Ramsey has time to still get back to where he was, Villa doesnt. Lopez sounds like a better option to me.

I would definitely keep Giroud and Diaby.

Giroud may not be 'Top class' but he's a useful target man and works hard for the team. Diaby is potentially 'World Class' a fit Diaby walks into just about any team. Who knows maybe he'll get over his injury problems, just like RVP seems to have done.

    I would sell:

    Squillaci, Fabinaski, Bendtner and Arshavin.

I would add quality right down the spine of the team.

    Buy.

    CF - David Villa - £13 mill
    DM - Yann M' Vila- £12 mill
    CB - Hoewedes - £8 mill

The bad thing about Howedes, though, is that he'll most likely end up going to FC Bayern or Borussia Dortmund. Sigh.
