I see Silly Season has begun!!

Gyan signed a five-year contract with Al Ain on 6 July 2012 worth in excess £6.4million. The contract would see Gyan earning £140,000+ a week after for five years, starting from July 2012

Rumour you heard where? How likely is this when he signed a 5 year contract 6 months ago. Tend to agree with Chazz's appraisal at the moment.

Didn,t we get John Moore from sunderland way back, i think they owe us a decent striker to make up for doing that to us.

To be fair, at the time, I don't think there was a match for Norman anywhere. I used to watch Southall who was rated as one of the best in Div 1 and he wasn't even close to Norman. I didn't see any older goalies like Billy Bly and Ian McEchnie, but I'd be surprised if Norman wasn't our best goalie of all time.

Andy Oakes was a good young keeper who could have gone on to be a very good keeper, but his potential was never fulfilled,

Yeah, I liked Oakes, but we couldn't turn down such a good offer for him.

Myhill has to be classed as the best keeper in our history.
Top flight he was excellent, Norman never played for us at that level.

Norman was much better than Myhill. He was a very special keeper.

Personally I thought Carroll was incredible for us, but that was only for a short time before he was sold. Norman did it for years and years.

I watched both and Norman was a far better goalie irrespective of what level they played at. Myhill doesn't even come close.

No doubt he did it for years but in the lower leagues.
Myhill did it in all four for us.

Tony Norman should have played for city in Div 1, but we never made it there during his time at BP, myhill and duke both played for us in the premier league, so does that mean that they have to be level as our best keepers of all time, look where they are now, leagues apart.

I don't know why you're placing so much emphasis on which division they played in - a good keeper is a good keeper and a bad keeper is a bad keeper. And Norman was far better than Myhill.

Quite right Tuckin! Bo was a pretty good keeper and a top professional but Tony Norman combined good shot stopping ability with a confident command of the area that Bo never really achieved. I also agree with comments on Roy Carroll and Andy Oakes - both looked fantastic and Andy Oakes was an absolutely key player in the "Great Escape".
I never saw Billy Bly play but know many who did and they all agreed that he was a fabulous keeper who was only kept out of the England team by Ted Ditchburn (Spurs).
    Now Ian Hesford...........
