Now whilst its not been the most entertaining season in our history I do think we are long over due a season of mid-table obscurity. It was my wish for a mid table finish last September in light of the god awful summer after relegation and knowing the club was on its knees but to call this the least entertaining season since Dolan is a bit extreme. I have enjoyed this season on the whole, home highlights are Swansea, Leeds (even though we threw away the lead), Bristol, QPR, Barnsley and Doncaster. We managed 17 games unbeaten away after an awful 18 months away from home too. This season has been in all honesty a good season which probably lived up to everyones expectations. I honestly thought in mid October we would be battling relegation with Sheffield United and the home defeat was a sign of things to come but it has not been. Nigel and his team have made careful acquisitions which will benefit the team for the long term, it has been clear that when we have come up against the divisions top sides we generally need a bit more quality. Retaining the services of Garcia, Barmby, and if I had my way ***an would help give the team the experience they need to gain promotion but I also recognise that the ***an's of this world have had their day. I will be thankful for his efforts in us staying up in 08/09. He pitched in when others fell short at the end of that season. People need to reflect and realise that Bullard and Olly are the past, they do not represent what the club is striving for, or what the fans want for the club. Olly has been really unlucky but Bullard for all his flair and ability showed last season he doesnt really want to be at Hull. It it now clear that signing for Hull was his Final Salary pension before regretfully hanging up his boots due to injury. Brown and Duffen didn't see it, the majority of the City fans didn't see it (I didn't), we all saw it as a sign that City were going places, we were going places. I like the way Nigel is stamping his authority on the team, he is moulding the team around quality and is getting rid of players that are regretfully coming towards the end of their professional careers. As much as we didn't want to see Ash to leave for this club to move forwards he had to make room. That was a big decision for Nige, if they players didnt appreciate what he was trying to do and felt he was acting in an unprofessional manner towards sections of the playing staff he would have gone the same way as Phil Parkinson. The man who with so much promise systematically went about removing every reminder of the camaraderie that Peter Taylor created in his previous 4 years. I am looking forward to seeing the summer signings and how the squad will look come July. If the last window is anything to go by Nigel will want business done and dusted before players get back from the summer break. Enjoy the summer Tiger nation and get ready for a great 11/12 Season! It will be anything but dull!
Most sensible fans are buddy - just the few idiots who continue to post their shyte on the forums that try to upset things!!
I'd say the general apathy at the end of the Palace game showed it's more than a few fans who weren't too happy about how this season panned out. Now, I'm aware that you're older than me and I haven't seen the the true "dark ages", but you can't argue that this season has been the worst in terms of entertainment value since we moved into this stadium at the very least. Clearly we've had a problem at home, our away form suggested we should be in the play-offs, our home form suggested we should be scrapping in a relegation battle, so you can't deny the problem. Trying to shut down the debate by using patronising phrases like "I'm older" or "only sensible fans..." just weakens your side, because at the very least, you could at least give an example of a worse season than this since the Fish/Dolan era. Clearly there's a difference in opinion on here, though I will admit that with a few exceptions, it seems to be generational, though IMO this is a could thing, as we can't continue to keep looking back to our darkest, darkest days and thinking "at least we're not there any more", if the electricity went off in your house you wouldn't just think "Well we used to use candles, a torch will do" you'd get your damn electricity working again. I'm veering wildly of course, but the point stands, there is a problem, it does need fixing and ignoring it won't do any good.
So you enjoyed the Molby era and the period under Parkinson? At least we're winning under Pearson that's all i'm saying on the matter.
I was about to say that I enjoyed 2006/2007 far less, apart from the final 2 or 3 games. That 5-2 thumping against Ipswich was bad. VERY bad. The only highlight, at home anyway, was the 4-0 against Southend and Deano's hat-trick.
This season was steets ahead of 06/07, and aside from the move to the KC it was better than 02/03. I remember feeling incredibly pissed off at the end of 01/02 season after we'd capitulated so badly during the 2nd half of the season. There's been better seasons than this one, but its certainly not the worst i've seen in the 12 years i've watched city.
I'm noticing an interesting pattern here with regards to the worst seasons, but I'm not going to mention it because it will derail my point. LOL. Anyway, those seasons were seasons of change, they started badly, but by the end we had new managers and a new sense of hope, with this season I don't get that. I know not all on here agree with my views on Pearson's tactics but there's been no sign of change this season, the performances have been consistently dull. At least with the two seasons you've mentioned there was an upturn in form towards the end (sort of) and a genuine reason to be excited for the next season, here there isn't.
Give up the ghost you clown. Nobody cares about your weird and absurd opinions. You talk ****e, it's very much debatable whether or not you have ever been to Hull, and even more so that you are a City fan, and all you've done on this site is post random articles about Jimmy ****ing Bullard being some divine creation of the Mighty One and about Nigel Pearson being a **** manager. Just **** off.
Oh right and this was not a season of change then. New Manager with damn all money trying to build a team firing on all cylinders with the threat of administration hanging over it (again). The on/off takeover by the Allams. I personally feel that NP has only really had since January to turn things round and I think he has worked wonders to get us where we are.
I never walk out when we're losing, or winning for that matter. When I was younger my dad used to make me leave Boothferry Park and the KC early, and several times we missed City goals, which I've NEVER forgiven him for. Every single one counts to me.
haha not this year i dusted the boots off for one final year of county league glory but alas my ham salads are tellin me my days are done an i'll be put out to pasture....hopefully to be seen grazin in e3/e4 next season
