I feel that Demba Ba would be a perfect signing, as we can get long balls up to him just like Crouch and he is relatively young. However it will be difficult to sign him when he has an offer from Arsenal. Anyone else agree?
Well Wenger has said we're not signing Demba Ba. Still don't think we need him tbh. Add to that he rubbed us up the wrong way, that hatrick against us last season.
Potts I think we rubbed him up the wrong way first, fart arsing him about and then not signing him but Jerome can do the same job for us if we can get him on the pitch more!!
It's not 1st April is it??? I'd swap Jones and Crouch AND chuck in Owen for good, measure - really. Thanks for email Potts, will get back to ye very soon.
we are not in need of another striker at the moment on current form IMO, what we need is cover for the back 4 because the cover we have (e.g Upson, Shotton and Wilkinson) are dog ****e!!.
Agreed about our full backs, or the lack of Ric! I can not remember the last time I saw Wilko have such a bad game, although first half apart from Begovic all the player's we're not at the races. We DO NEED at least one fullback in Jan IMHO. The only snag I think? Is that Pulis said "Our wallett is not open this window" It showed yesterday that we miss Ryan badly and Huth did'nt look confotable especially first half without him. Cameron has play brilliantly but we need cover for both fullbacks really.
Can't see anyone paying out for Ba, because of his 'dodgy knees'. We refused to pay 7-8 mil for him, West Ham dragged their feet, and ended up getting him for about 500,000 (what does that say, if Hoffemheim took such a cut in their demands?) and then Newcastle picked him up for free, apparently on a £60,000 pay as you play deal. I read that his knee problem came from a really bad double break while playing in Belgium, and then botched surgery to it damaged the surrounding muscles. This is what Pulis referred to as the 'ticking time bomb' I also heard that he failed medicals at both West Ham and Newcaslte, but given he wasn't costing much/ anything it was worth it for them. When it came out that he might be leaving Newcastle, it was reported that he was almost certain to fail a medical anywhere else, if anyone is to sign him, it would be a complete gamble. But who knows. Maybe with the goals he's scored, he might be worth the price, if only for a season or 2.
yea yea yea. But £7.5.mil = 15 - 20 goals = 3 or so higher league places = more millions plus Europe. Where's the problem?? Of course dodgy knees - pish and tish me lovelies
I never looked at it that way Nick.. Good thinking! Top Six next season it is then. P.S. what's everyone else drinking tonight?
I guess you're right, now that he's proven himself in the PL. Still think we were right not to buy him, and a shame we couldn't loan him. If we had, his contract would have expired while he was with us, and been up on a free. It's a wounder every time he scores for 'Castle.
I think Ba's dodgy knees are behind him now - that's what 'foxes' defenders , they don't know if he's coming or going. I suspect that it was constrictive contract conditions that Ba's people were insisting on that deterred us from signing him. He's performed well in the prem. but despite the good return of goals that he's produced , his contractual demands make it difficult for a club to keep him. He will probably go to mansour city ( replacing Balotelli ) or chelski , the new Drog Ba , see what I did there ? Anyway it would have to be a club with money to burn.
I know Koski but do the sums: Jones - £35K per week Crouch - £50K ?????? per week Owen - gawd knows - pay as you play but perhaps say £5K per week retainer That's £90K per week, BA = £60 - £70K per week. and you are guaranteed goals. I rest my case M'Lud
I disagree mate, we definatley need a pacey goal scorer and he has always been there or thereabouts at the top of the prem goal scorers. However, for me (as most of you well know) any quality striker is waste (IMO) under TP - he just cant play a style and formation that gets the best opportunities out of them!
I think the jury's out on this one Nick..!! The sums do work out to a financial saving but to replace 3 strikers (or 2 and a bit!) for 1 would not suit.... then if his knees did wobble, who knows. Anyway, after what went on with Ba before the last place he would come to is little old Stoke. I am more concerned that Begovic could leave rather than Ba coming in Happy New Year to you and all our other posters
Nicky, Only one stumbling block and that's a big Mr P shaped one. He's a stubborn old git and the man from Del monte he say no!!
Just saying PP!! My new signature avatar is about resisting temptation in 2013 and as Oscar Wilde said, and I agree:- I can resist everything except temptation. Have a great (and safe) evening guys and gals and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
