Whilst I agree with you about them being better than Bale, you've listed 2 strikers as match winners, as I'm sure you know, it's much easier to attribute strikers contributions to the end result.
It's a fair point, but Bale is a goalscoring forward/winger like Ronaldo, if not a centre forward. He contributes his fair share of goals and assists, but I think he ought to be making those contibutions on a more consistent basis and at crucial times. That is what the best of his kind do. If he wants to be considered the best (which is what the thread is about), he needs to become a player who is not just talked about in this way for a purple patch of form.
Both Barca and Madrid have better LB's than Bale. Although Madrid could use him on the wing if Ronaldo goes to PSG.
"Best" player is always going to be a subjective judgement - best at what? No player is best at everything, it's a team game. However, there's no doubt in my mind that Bale is one of the most potentially dangerous players in the world - never mind the PL. There are only a handful of players anywhere who are capable of destroying a defence & changing a game single handed. Bale is one of them.
Boss i did not say he was the best ever as i have not lived long enough to make a statement like that. But he is the most dynamic player i have seen in a Spurs shirt IE he has so much tools to do a job. I f we look at Hoddle he was a great passer of the ball and had great vision and was blessed with natural skills, but he did not have the fitness level as Bale or the pace and power. The same could be said for Gazza as well basically Bale is much more versatile player regards skill than any i have seen at Spurs
Bale is the best British player at this moment in time . His value on an open market is more than anyone British or arguably any player in the premiership. He has an exceptional talent which very few players in the world have . Using Van Persie as an example , there are maybe 10 strikers matching his ability in the world. Bale is rarer , he is maybe just behind Ronaldo in his position and far younger.
Bale, like a lot of modern players, relies upon his pace to be effective. Teams that have managed to neutralise that remove not only his effectiveness but that of the team. Having a rejuvenated Lennon on the other wing has worked absolute wonders for us, since we are able to switch play to either wing and give defenders the run-around. Take away Bale's pace and, whilst I'm sure he'd still be a very good player, he wouldn't be any where near as good as he is, now. For me, the best ever player to pull on the lilly white of Spurs was Glen Hoddle. He didn't need pace to be the best player on the field in almost every game that he played, having the first-touch and close ball-control of a footballing demi-god. Plus, he was probably the best dead-ball specialist we have ever seen.
Maybe just behind Ronaldo? Are you sure he's not level with him? Of course he's miles better than Ribery and anyone else who plays on the left.
, no mate, no way, not even close yet, Gazza was a genius, didn't have Bale's pace (who has!) but had the same drive and power to go past people. I'd even rather see Gascoigne take our free kicks now than Bale!
Its always difficult to judge players in different positions and from different generations as football moves on. Bale is up thee with the best at present. I have to take exception comparing him to Gazza though. Gazza would have been the best player in the world in his generation had he not had those demons. He did have pace relatively speaking at the time, compared to now, no where near. His skill was incredible, he had forgotten more tricks than the likes of Bale ever possessed. Gazza could dribble, score and had a brilliant free kick. Ironically his biggest mistake was joining Spurs and El Tel. I love him for it, but I do believe if he had signed for Man Utd then Fergie would have sorted him out.
Garza was certainly something special. For me, there's nothing much in it. They both have (had) the ability to,do something extraordinary that could change a game single handed. It's why Bale is so often double or triple marked. One on one, he will skin 99.9% of defenders. Sometimes, he even does it to the multiple markers.
Agreed and I think that demonstrates why it is impossible to compare different types of players. Gazza regularly beat multiple markers and people hacking him everywhere as well. He used power, some pace and his bag of tricks as well
What you think he will drop and play for only a half decent club, rather than the superb club he plays for now? A lot of players do that in the latter stages of their career go to a lower league club. Maybe Arsenal will be a target when he is in his 30s and they are in League 1
10 goals, 4 assists for this season, 12/14 for last and 11/3 for the season before that. That's all competition, barring internationals.
gazza was a genuis, while bale is a dyanmic effective winger, you cant compare the two as gazza really was a one off, he had strength, power, sheer natural ability and quite simply a genuis like.gazza doesnt happen often. Not to mention gazza was a one for the big game, he produced here, at international level and in italy (although that was in short spells due to injury and weight issues). Ive see many a great winger over the years but i havent seen many players in the mould of gazza ( que the belly jokes) and lets not forget it wasnt too long ago bale was seen as a bad luck charm for the team and this/last year he went a large number of games with average performances, now he is world class and being compared with gazza and hoddle? ..fantastic talent but to also hear him being compared to players like ronaldo is abit far fetched.....for now.
